The Sakuragoaka Girls' Academy curriculum traditionally focuses on the three "R"s of reading, writing and arithmetic, but Ritsu Tainaka wants to add two more "R"s: Rock and Roll! To do that, however, Ritsu has to save the Light Music Club from being shut down due to little problems like not having any other members or a faculty advisor.
After strong-arming her best friend Mio into joining and convincing Tsumugi Kotobuki to make it a trio, Ritsu's would-be rockers are soon only one talented guitarist short of the quartet they need for school approval. What they get, unfortunately, is Yui Hirasawa, who's never held a guitar in her life, but she's determined to learn! Will the school halls come alive with the sound of music? Find out as four outrageous girls band together in K-ON! The Ultimate Collection!

My Favorite Anime
by Joseph
K-On is an awesome anime. It is my all time favorite. I've re-watch the anime series so many time already, that it's so much fun to watch. I watched it twice, before buying it. I never really thought of buying an anime. This one is a real entertaining anime. You should buy it.
High school and music club feels
by Pg-chan
Cute and sweet, full of feelings, not as much moe as most other girls school series. Actually, having worked at a girls school in Japan, this was nostalgic in some ways. And the music is actually pretty good for exactly what it is - fluffy songs written by a high school girls band.
Fuwa Fuwa Time!

As a long time anime fan, I was drawn to this one as I am also an alternative rock guitarist. I was immediately hooked by the realistic portrayals of starting a band.
The many characters have subtle and distinctly carved personalities. I found myself relating to them on so many levels. (I probably have the most in common with Yui lol.)
The music is very catchy, not only the openings/closings, but from the fictional band as well. It's mostly a comedy, but also can be equally emotional and heartfelt.
Finally, don't expect larger than life "saving the world" type plots, car chases or flashy gun battles. This show celebrates the little, everyday trials and victories.
This "Ultimate Collection" includes the first two seasons, 5 OVA episodes, the film, and a special features disc!
Ichi, ni, san, shi GOHAN

Why did it take me a decade to watch this Kyoani classic? At the most simple of all breakdowns It's Lucky Star but they're in a band. But it's so much more. I care about these girls I love these girls. This show has no "Best girl" Because they're all best girl. The songs are really good. There's just so much heart in this show that not many shows have.
My only gripe with this show is that it took me 10 years to finally watch it.
Top 10 show for me

The complete collection

This collection comes in a bigger Blu ray box that contains all of the anime episodes of season 1 and 2 and includes the OVAs and Movie. Honestly this anime is an amazing accomplishment from the animation studio Kyoto Animation. It is a slice of life/ music anime that will definitely keep you entertained.
One of the most relatable and good-feeling anime out there.

I picked this up on sale and have never been happier. K-ON stands as one of my favorite anime to date. I never related to a cast of characters as much the Light Music Club. It'll make you laugh and it may even make you cry. This is a must watch series for any anime fan.
Great Lighthearted Series though it does not include a soundtrack CD.

This is a great series to watch if you want something cute, funny, and slow paced. If you decide to watch it in the dub, which I did, the singing is all in Japanese. However, Sentai Filmworks did a good job at picking voice actors for the dub that sound similar to the original Japanese dub. The transition from the characters singing in the band and them talking was done right.
On another note, the reason why I knocked a star off the review: there is no sound track CD. This is literally an anime about girls playing music in a high school club, it would be nice if the After School Tea Time / Ho-kago Tea Time songs were on a CD.
These discs are identical to the ones included with the limited edition, except that the words "limited edition" are not printed on the physical discs. Even the title screen on all of the discs say limited edition. There is room in the case for another disc slot, so a sound track CD could've been included without making the case any larger.
