Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Novel Volume 9 is written by Fujino Omori with illustrations by Suzuhito Yasuda.

In the new dungeon, The Great Forest Labyrinth, a dragon girl named Wiene has appeared and Bell meets her! Seeing that she is neither human nor monster but something entirely different, Bell promises to protect her but...

A band of violently immoral hunters slowly worm their evil influence into the Dungeon and begin to wreck havoc, irreversibly causing strife between people and monsters. Amidst all this, the Guild begins to move and the true master appears. All these events revolve around the vivre girl Wiene and cause waves in the city above as well!

The irregulars will shake humans, monsters, and even the gods to their core. The young hero walks his path and the goddess records it--the Familia Myth!

Long-awaited return to the dungeon

by -

After a number of books where the majority of the focus is on the political situation of the world outside of the dungeon, volume 9 finally returns to the mysteries of the dungeon, entwining our protagonists in a new plot of warring gods.

While I enjoyed the book, overall it felt like a step down from Omori's best work. Rather than an adventure or mystery for our cast to tackle, it felt more like an essay on the world of Danmachi told through the medium of story using characters we know to mask it. The things we learn in this volume will have a big part to play on the plot moving forward, but the book itself was merely going through the motions as established in previous volumes. This is most definitely required reading, but it's somewhat disappointing after excellent entries such as volumes 5, 6, or 8.
