The best volume yet, with an epic concluding fight for the ages

by -

This is a volume to get the blood flowing! There's a lot of growth for Bell this volume, as he finally begins to spend time (training) with his crush Aiz and eventually faces his fear of the dreaded Minotaur sown in volume 1. The battle concluding this volume is fantastically written, exciting, and deeply personal to Bell. It was a showcase moment in the anime, and it doesn't disappoint in written form. It's such a relief to be able to say "this is great!" without adding "for a light novel".

Bell may be a simple character, but simple characters work when written well, like in this series. This volume is the first real climax in Bell's journey, and is a must-read for fans of fantasy literature.
