A Great DANMACHI Movie
by Eric -
I got a chance to see the sub of this in the US Theatrical release and was really glad I made it. This movie was a great addition to the DANMACHI story and doesn't detract from the story, characters, or the continuity of the light novels, anime, or manga since it is an actual complete aside. The movie extras after the show were also great with good interviews and even some interviews with the cast for the dub from Sentai.
Hestia is bubbly and over-protective of Bell as always. Bell is his usual self with all the things that make him a great character. Lily and Welf are clearly part of the party and the Lily vs Hestia hi-jinks continue. The cameos by the other key characters from round out the story. But we can't forget Artemis, who brings home some of the story around Hestia and the other virgin goddesses who descended.
Well done, good animation, can't wait for this media.
Non canon Anime OG film but still great
by Mcnosurge -
A film worth watching for Danmachi fans. Timeline wise, the event of this film can only be right after the Black Goliath battle and before the bar scuffle against Apollo Familia.
The Heroine of the film, Artemis has become my favorite female lead in the Danmachi universe. Artemis and Bell's relationship felt like it had the best chemistry and not overly pushy like the other characters. A shame. The author of the LN should really consider making her a canon character down the road. The events of the film technically can happen between the two canon events I stated earlier.
Design wise though, Artemis is a blue haired version of Ais, but with much more character, she only has one single film so she must be fleshed out to make the viewers care for her in that time frame. Still as a Japanese VA fan, having Maya Sakamoto casted as a female lead as endearing as Artemis made me care for the character SO much more. A talent unrivaled.
I pray for the day Artemis becomes part of the canon.
Sub Par for DanMachi
by Go Go -
I expected more out of this movie then what I got. The humor for the most part stayed on point and most all reoccurring characters from the seasons acted in typical fashion unlike Hermes. Hermes acted strange in the over all plot as he knew what was going on in the first place but did his normal antics & didn't seem serious about the situation till the end when the story needed it. The action was severely lacking & did not compare to anything in the seasons of DanMachi. The run time is like 82 minutes but the movie to me seemed a little rushed. In my opinion the Hot Springs OVA was better then this showing. I recommend streaming or renting before buying.

Great movie that left a lasting impression

I love Danmachi and have really enjoyed collecting every stitch of information and content I can get to develop and expand the world and lore of this beautiful universe. This movie is very good and moving and Sentai Filmworks does a superb job on the Dub. Everything felt like an addition to the story instead of a clumsy filler like some anime movies and if you hadnt read the books you would swear it was canon (might be but typically movies aren't) I loved this movie and cant wait to get even more Danmachi content courtesy of the best store in the biz!
An epic adventure for all to enjoy

The story is great link between the 1st and 2nd seasons, but can stand by itself. This movie has all the parts of the show that we love, plus more. There is plenty of comedy and cuteness, but the action has been pumped up to epic levels. Also there is more drama than the 1st season, there is even a surprising twist that might bring a tear to your eye. Plus the art is spectacular, the action scenes are some of the best I have seen.
