About Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV Series Blu-ray

Irresponsible Captain Tylor TV Series contains episodes 1-26 of the anime directed by Koichi Mashimo.

Justy Ueki Tylor had his life all planned out: join the military, get a cushy desk job, and then retire with a big fat pension check. The perfect plan…until he wandered into a hostage situation and somehow managed to save an Admiral!

Now Tylor, a man who wouldn’t know what discipline was if it bit him in the backside, has been made Captain of the space cruiser Soyokaze! The crew of this run–down ship is the craziest, rag–tag team of misfits you’re ever likely to see, and they’re not too fond of their complacent new leader. But they had better learn to work together, because they’re about to go head to head with the mighty Raalgon Empire! For better or for worse, the Earth’s fate has been placed in the hands of a man who’s either a total idiot, or an absolute genius...

Tylor Too Funny

by -

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor is a series unlike any other. It has everything, from drama, hilariously-timed comedy, action and adventure. The most powerful aspect of this series, however, are the characters; the crew of the main battleship—consisting of both male and female soldiers. Occupying the commander chair is none other than the titular character himself, the dopey (genius?) Justy Ueki Tylor, age twenty. As the series progresses, you get to see the crew bond together, and really, anything else written would be one huge spoiler—you’re missing out if you don’t have this in your collection.

The series is worth more than one watch in a short span of time. As of writing this, I have already watched it in Japanese, then watched the Tylor OVA series (also get that one), and am now watching it in Spanish. All in all, exceptional release. Oh, and there’s a ton of extras too, music videos to match the soundtrack that you’ll hear throughout the series.

Delightful Sci-Fi Comedy Series Worth Owning

by -

Compared to other Sci-Fi drama/comedy anime shows that I have enjoyed watching throughout the years as "Vandread" and "Martian Successor Nadesico". "The Irresponsible Captain Tylor" is still the best war/comedy/adventure anime I've seen even if dated from 1993...its biggest strengths is the memorable characters in the show.

The bluray in 1080p / 4:3 format is improved in appearance from my older DVD and re-mastered DVD versions. However, I noticed that the 'splicing errors' are still present in the anime, and as a result, many scenes still bounce on the screen. While great that the background music and opening/closing songs are in stereo, the explosions and battle action is still in monotone. And also noticed some dust spots and the occasional flair up errors too!

Despite the flaws, this anime is still the best up-to-date version available, and is worth a place in your collection. The only extras included are a clean opening, and two clean closing songs. Enjoy!
