The story of Suzu, a young woman growing up in rural Imperial Japan during the Second World War. From harvesting seaweed with her family to being married off to an unknown family to the fire bombing of Japanese cities we follow this visual diary of daily life. Powerful art, excellent writing, and a heart breaking yet heart warming story of survival should be read by all. Graphic and shocking in places.
