An App You Should Download

by

In Another World With My Smartphone is certainly one of the more interesting Isekai I’ve read, not because of any unique idea or well written moment, but simply due to how enjoyable it was for a very basic first Volume.

As I said above, the story so far is pretty basic. Guy gets placed into a new world, is given OP abilities, and starts gaining a harem, but I think that’s the appeal of this series. It knows what it is, and just tries to have fun with itself, and I think it does succeed fairly well.

My biggest issues with this Volume are that Touya, the main character, has moments where I think he is too OP, one in particular happens about 3/4 of the way through, and the fact that he hasn’t actually used his smartphone much despite it being in the title.

Overall, this was a fun read, and there have been little crumbs placed throughout that make me excited to see what the other Volumes have in store.

Overpowered main character with no goal

by -

I went into this expecting the main character's one advantage in his new world to be his magically still working smartphone. Instead, in addition to his smartphone (which he hardly used in this first volume), he could also use every kind of magic in existence and had improved strength, memory, speed, etc. I might have been able to put up with how overpowered he was if he'd had proper obstacles between him and some sort of overarching goal, but that wasn't the case. The guy had no ambition, a bland personality, and could solve every problem he encountered in minutes. I don't see how this series has lasted for multiple volumes. Even the harem romance aspect is dull.
