Stalwart as ever, 16-year-old Mochizuki Touya heads off to the far eastern land of Eashen with his party in tow. For what purpose? The Matriarch of the Fairy Clan wishes to delve into some ancient ruins, of course! But it's never quite that simple for Touya and his friends, oh no. The party is thrust into the midst of a clash between the warlords Takeda Schingen and Tokugawa Ieyahsu, while a nefarious necromancer makes his move in the shadows... Throw in a Gynoid or two, an ancient legacy, another ridiculous summoning pact, and you've got yourself a brand new recipe for disaster!

The anime ends here!
by Mandy -
I've watched the anime before I read the books, and I can tell you the anime ends 3/4 through this book.
So for those that want to find out what happens past the anime, this is the book for you.
We end up meeting the young boy like the anime, but he is still a mystery. Only we get more clues to him in this book.
What I like best about the books, is that we get to see a bit of Touya's thought processes when it comes to making those impossible moments of magic come to life. In the anime, he seemed a bit of a Mary Sue, but the text has him a bit more realistic by his experimentation of magic.
Plus, there's cheesy fun pirate adventure as a bonus story at the end of the book.
