More like a novel, and not really a light one...

The whale-shaped mega-liner to the continent beyond the human world has set sail, and on board are 14 princes of Kakin, a massively populous kingdom rising on the world stage, along with a huge cast of their bodyguards, servants, would-be assassins, conflicting mothers, and...invisible monster protectors. I'm gonna be honest--this is the point where the succession battle story arc reveals itself in all its text heavy, rules-explaining, characters-whispering-to-each-other glory, and personally, I love it. Its tense and fascinating, while still leaving room for the human emotions and contradictions that Togashi is so good at conveying. But its really not for everyone, and at times it can feel like there's so much going on yet so little really...happening. It tests your commitment not to any particular style, story arc, or character in HxH, but to the broader vision of the series that the author intends. I like it, but its ok if you don't.

Hunter X Hunter is a whirlwind story that Isn't too hard to understand, yet so complex that it makes you think super hard over how characters can further develop without breaking the plot. The cover shows off the characters of interest, without spoiling anything super important until you've read it. I love constantly looking back to make connections I didn't notice earlier! Worth buying!
