Seriously the best single volume of manga ever

by

Hunter x Hunter isn't my #1 series of manga overall, although its certainly up there, but it absolutely has some of the highest points of brilliant writing and art in the entire medium, and a lot of them happen to be in this volume. I won't spoil it, of course, but this tankobon marks the last of the lengthy Chimera Ant arc, and the ending of that arc is even more sublime than you would expect of such an important part of the story, even from a series this good. I would recommend reading it first in the manga, too, instead of watching it in the anime, as the things that Togashi does with the two-page spreads in this volume to creatively convey the many meanings of "humanity" that are thematically seminal to this arc are simply unbelievable to behold. One to buy and display proudly.

The end...?

by

Covering the end of the chimera arc in a super professional style, with the main badguys showing softer sides, rather than violence and malice, togashi doesn't disappoint. You'll start to feel for all sides of characters! Definitely a volume to get.
