I'm a long time fan of the original manga series. It is easily with in my top ten favorites. I initially avoided the anime in the fear that it would, like so many others these days, feel like a relatively underwhelming recap of its source material.
My suspicions were absolutely shattered. This animation consistently improves all the factors that make the series great. The medium very skillfully enhances the vibrancy of the characters as well as the already masterful comedic and emotional impact.

A Comedy serial that I found enjoyable

I like this anime show, but it's not for everyone. Those going in blind will be disappointed if your expecting a heavy-laden slapstick comedy series...which it's not. You may appreciate this series if you understand its main concept leans more towards slice of life with the humor relying on the newfound crazy situations the characters find...thrust upon them in the series.

Besides Hina and Nitta, there's 'The Observer', Hitomi the bartender, Anzu the homeless, and my favorite, Mao the martial artist. Hopefully, a second season will be produced; otherwise, this first season leaves you with no conclusion. Four stars overall.

Silly yet realistic, it'll tug at your heart strings nonetheless

Hinamatsuri is a slow-burn slice of life series that puts great care into developing its cast and livening up its world with good comedy. In its brief time gracing the screen with it's 13 episodes, Hinamatsuri still made a profoundly warm impact on me, and l can't recommend it enough. 10/10 great show, you'll want this one on your shelf someday.
