About Himouto! Umaru-chan Blu-ray

Himouto! Umaru-chan contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Masahiko Ohta.

To her classmates, Umaru Doma appears to be the perfect girl. She's beautiful, friendly, and fashionable, earns top grades, and seems to be able to do any task asked of her with ease. She's even humble and polite! However, if Umaru's classmates could see her in the privacy of her home, they wouldn't even recognize her.

Once she's inside the door, the pretty clothes come off, the orange hamster hood goes on, and it's time to pig-out on snack foods, binge-watch television, and play violent video games! This version of Umaru is everything that the public Umaru isn't: she whines, rolls on the floor, leaves messes all over the apartment, and makes life miserable for her poor older brother, Taihei. Even the most guarded secrets have a way of being found out, and, as Umaru becomes even more obnoxious and outrageous, her two lives are bound to collide in disastrous fashion!

Great show all around!

I loved the show and the release and dub are phenomenal. Highly recommend to comedy/slice of life fans. Great length for a weekend viewing I would say.

apparently annoying is cute

Just wrapped up this series and found it to be a very middle of the road title. The morphing of Umaru from normal to Chibi is the suspension of belief gag.. which I get but it does get annoying after some time. Her character comes off as annoying in the beginning and at points in the series just obnoxious. Some of its minor characters have some spotlight but a good part of this series revolves around Umaru and Cola which I guess is cute in the beginning but rapidly goes stale as the series progresses.

The bonus shorts are the highlights here and are actually funny. We need more of this as the series probably would have been better formatted like a 4-koma.

Just a bit annoying, but otherwise a pretty good comedy.

The main criticism of this show I always see is about how annoying Umaru-chan is, but she isn't really the most annoying character out there. She can be a bit annoying, but most of the time it seems genuine and more so that they're just wanting to depict a younger sister in a more extreme way than just, an average anime. Got a few audible laughs out of me, which is more than I can say over other supposed "comedy" animes.

Worthy Slice of Life anime

This anime has always had a place in my heart. The heartwarming adventures of Umaru are funny and pure. She loves her cola! Any slice of life fan should give this anime a try.
