About Haru's Curse Manga

Haru's Curse manga contains the complete series, volumes 1-2, and features story and art by Asuka Konishi.

Natsumi’s little sister Haru was her whole world—and now she’s gone.

After the funeral, Natsumi reluctantly agrees to date her sister’s fiancé Togo. But as their relationship develops with the passing seasons, Haru’s memory lingers over them like a curse.

Asuka Konishi’s English-language debut is a nuanced and affecting portrait of the conflict between romantic and familial love, and of the hard choices that face us all in making our lives our own.

5 stars because the system stops at 5!

This is one of the best drama's I've read in a long time! The art looks different than "normal" but it works extremely well with the story. It was one of those books that I just couldn't put down and I've read it over and over now and it's still that same experience for me.

Story>>art for this one!

by -

I only decided to read this online bc I wanted a super quick, high quality shoujo. Came upon this series and started it a few times but absolutely could NOT with the art style. But the premise was soooo interesting that I kept coming back until after a few chapters, I got used to the art and REALLY fell in love with the story! Like REEEEALLLY fell in love with the story. So much so that I immediately pre-ordered the hard copy omnibus when I heard it was coming out soon. Both protags are so genuine and sincere and cute and they really do deserve each other!!!

Good read about a difficult situation

by -

I really enjoyed this manga. The premiss is quite odd, dating your dead sisters fiance, but is handled in a very believable way. Tackling the themes of grief, growth, and reason. its hard to write a review without giving spoilers away as most of what i liked about this story is how the characters dealt with such a difficult situation. dealing with death is at times incapacitating and its hard to say what the best and most appropriate way to heal. Its not for anyone person to decide what best for others but what you choose for yourself. This manga illustrates that belief well.

Thoroughly Enjoyable Read

by -

Vertical has made a habit of selecting/publishing these more sophisticated, nuanced manga titles that strike the right cord throughout, This was a thoroughly enjoyable read for a Summer afternoon. The complications of romantic life between Natsumi and Togo after tragic circumstances are conveyed in both comic and cathartic ways with real heart and a subtle deft touch to the storytelling.

A story that addresses some heavy topics associated with loss

by -

First off, this story tackles some difficult subjects not just associated with pre-mature loss of a loved one. I applaud the creator for their delicate, yet truth-of-the-matter approach in portraying the chaotic struggles of the various characters. This story is realistic in that element as it explores views of the after life, survivor's guilt, and the non-linear process that grieving is. That being said, I give it 4/5 because I do wish that some of the issues mentioned showed more resolve or were more fully explored. I couldn't help but think, "But what about-" upon finishing this series.

Same author as Raise wa Tanin ga ii !!

by -

I love this author!! I really wish they would do an English release for "Raise wa Tanin ga ii" , Please!! It is a gangster/romance manga. I have been keeping it up with the Japanese version but I would love to add it to my manga collection! The art style is similar to Haru's Curse but it is much longer. Haru's curse is a great addition for any manga collector to have!

Love and it’s tragic side

by -

I basically got this to get free shipping read the sypnosis found it interesting so here i am writing this, its a good short story. Is it wrong to fall in love with your sister’s fiancé? A fixed marriage that has tragedy to it and the struggles of it a the older sister taking responsibility and as a guy who was ok with the fixed marriage but has his eyes set on someone else no spoilers but let me tell you the final chapters answer some of it and has a good ending.
