About Hajime No Ippo The Fighting! Collection 1 Blu-ray

Hajime No Ippo The Fighting! Collection 1 contains episodes 1-24 of the anime directed by Satoshi Nishimura.

Ippo Makunouchi is an ordinary high school boy whose timid nature makes him easy pickings for bullies. But after he's saved from them by Mamoru, a professional boxer, he becomes fascinated by boxing and decides to step into the ring! It won't be easy. Mamoru is skeptical of Ippo's resolve, and he soon finds a rival in Ichiro Miyata, a lifelong boxing prodigy of his own age. Put to the test again and again on his boxing journey, Ippo discovers his hidden talents as he searches for an answer to the question: "What does it mean to be strong?".

Shōnen Roots, Seinen Impact

Hajime no Ippo is an underrated gem. The few remaining series of the early 2000s to receive larger episodes orders per season (compared to 26 becoming the norm at the time ,later reduced to 13 at present) the delivery and pacing of the series is refreshing as a contemporary title of the 1990s adapted for the early 2000s.

VIEWING EXPERIENCE
The pacing of Ippo's training is natural and accessible if one were watching and emulating week-to-week. The matches Ippo face reward their potential and aptitude, iterating on lessons learned. Opponents receive enough backstory throughout while providing a new challenge.

ENGLISH DUB
All members of the Kamogawa gym match their roles well in the way their voices portray their quirks and personality. Richard Epcar as Coach Kamogawa commands respect in their delivery. Kirk Thornton as the commentator is beat-for-beat excitement. The dub is another shining example of the refinement of anime VAs in the west.

Great Boxing with equally Great Comedy

Formally released by Geneon Entertainment as the 75 episode "Fighting Spirit" back in 2002, I was happy to see Discotek acquire all 76 episodes (including the missing episode) of this classic anime. Besides the TV serial, there will be a movie "Championship Road" and the OVA "Mashiba VS Kimura".

In my opinion you don't need to be a sports/boxing fan to appreciate this show, as the situational humor in the series is worth the price alone. Besides the great boxing/comedy elements of this anime, it includes some really good/strong characters that are gruff, brash, even sometimes crude, but all still very likable bunch of supporting cast members of season one. This anime also stood out for its motivational and inspirational strengths, as Ippo vows to fight his rival/friend at the Eastern Japan Tournament, and the training, strategies, and round-by-round action was very exalting.

Five stars and enjoy in 1080p / 4:3 format.

One of the best

You don't have to know anything about boxing to love this anime. I knew nothing about boxing beforehand, and this has easily become one of my favorite anime of all time. Some might consider the animation to be a bit out-dated compared to modern anime; however, it gives it a certain charm. This anime is hilarious in the calm scenes and INTENSE during fights. Do yourself a favor and get this blu-ray release. I never thought it would get one, but recently a lot of my favorites have been getting USA and blu-ray releases.

When I found out that "Hajime No Ippo The Fighting! " was getting Blu ray, I had to buy it. Hajime No Ippo The Fighting! is one of my favorite sport anime, even though I am not really into boxing. The first time I saw it, I was amazed about it. A dorky teen becoming a boxer. It is just awesome. If you have not seen it, it is worth to buy.
