About Haikyu!! Season 1 Collection 1 Blu-ray

Haikyu!! Collection 1 contains episodes 1-13.

Shoyo Hinata isn't a large guy, but he's got huge ambitions. Ever since seeing a small player score in a National Championship, he's been determined to become the next big thing in High School Volleyball. Unfortunately, the one time he was able to pull enough players together to form a team in junior high, they were completely trashed in their first and only match against a team led by up-and-coming setter Tobio Kageyama.

Now, enrolled at the same high school where his idol once played, Shoyo's finally going to get his shot to join and play with a top team. There's just one problem: Tobio Kageyama's decided to attend the same school, and he's already considered one of the best players in the game. Can a kid out of nowhere hold his own against the King of the Court? Or could the rivalry and competition actually be the best thing for both of them?

No interest in sports anime? Give Haikyu a try

I've never really been a sports anime fan but it took just one episode of Haikyu to get me hooked. Haikyu may seem like just another sports anime but it does what it does extremely well. The series is full of gorgeous visuals, very likable characters, and blood-pumping volleyball action.

The package itself is pretty bare bones which seems to be typical of Sentai releases. It literally is a case with two discs. It doesn't even have a paper listing the episode names. Nevertheless, the animation looks gorgeous on blu-ray and the subs are decent (there isn't an option to remove them).

Never have I fallen for a series as quickly as I have fallen for Haikyu. I have watched the series multiple times and still enjoy it. Even if you have never been a fan of sports anime, I would highly recommend giving this series a try.

Incredible anime, poor release without a dub.

Fantastic anime series all around, but a poor release, this deserves more respect, Sentai, come on...

I fully recommend this anime series to anyone, even if you don't enjoy sports anime. The characters, animation, directing, music and story all manage to create a wonderfully crafted experience that will keep you entertained all the way through.

Because this series is truly exceptional, I'll give it 3 stars, but otherwise it would've gotten 1 star.

The problem with this release? Sub only. I believe that an anime publisher should at least bother to put some money into a dub when they put out a bare-bones release. No slipcover, no fancy extras, no nothing. You just get a plastic case and your BD discs, how nice. You might as well stream this online (when I watched it, it was on Crunchyroll). This series deserves better and hopefully Sentai will reconsider their horrible decision to not dub this.

Love it
