About Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Unicorn) DVD Part 1

Mobile Suit Gundam UC (Unicorn) Part 1 contains episodes 1-2.

Universal Century 0096. Three years after the last conflict between Neo Zeon and the Earth Federation forces, the tentative peace of the Earth Sphere is about to be shattered again. Cardeas Vist, the head of the powerful Vist Foundation, has decided to hand over "Laplace's Box," the secret of the Foundation's prosperity, to Neo Zeon.

At the same time, Banagher Links, a student at the space colony Industrial 7, rescues a mysterious girl who calls herself Audrey Burne. Audrey is seeking to prevent a war, but it seems she has come too late. As the secret to Laplace's Box is about to be exchanged, Earth Federation forces intervene, and Banagher soon finds himself in the center of the conflict. Amidst the fighting, he stumbles onto the Vist Foundation's secret project and the key to Laplace's Box, the Unicorn Gundam.

Now the fate of the Earth Sphere centers on Banagher, who may or may not be ready for the burden fate has placed in his hands.

Good substitute against the expensive Bandai Blu-rays

by

While not 1080p or a perfect 60fps visuals, the transfers on the DVDs are still amazing, and look wonderful. The only areas the frame rates will noticeably suffer are the brief uses of CG, which honestly makes it less jarring against the hand-drawn animation.

Story, animation, music, and overall greatness of this series is breathtaking. The biggest con is if you're going into this without watching the majority of earlier UC titles, you'll likely be lost pretty quick.

Episodes 1 and 2 are present, episodes have English credit rolls, menus are animated, and all the bonuses are included from the second BD, which covers content from the first episode.

At roughly $30, it's a no-contest against the BD's original prices of $50+ PER EPISODE.

If you're at all interested in this series, get it. And start here, with Vol. 1, of course!
