Gundam Build Fighters Blu-ray
About Gundam Build Fighters Blu-ray
Gundam Build Fighters contains episodes 1-25 of the anime directed by Kenji Nagasaki.
The time is the near future. Years have passed since the 1980s, when "Gunpla" -- plastic models based on the "Mobile Suit Gundam" animation -- created a huge boom.
Now, a new wave is sweeping the world, in what could be called a second Gunpla boom. Its popularity is driven by "Gunpla Battle," in which assembled Gunpla can be controlled and made to fight. With the introduction of this revolutionary Battle System, its popularity has expanded to the point that a Gunpla Battle World Tournament is held each year.
The main character of the story, Sei Iori, is a young Gunpla builder who loves Gunpla and dreams of entering the Gunpla Battle World Tournament. As the only heir to a hobby shop, he has high Gunpla building abilities, but he doesn’t know how to control them in battle and is continually defeated in the opening rounds of tournaments. When he meets Reiji, a mysterious boy with superb Gunpla control skills, they team up to take on the World Tournament.
Sei, the Gunpla builder.
Reiji, the Gunpla fighter.
Sei builds, and Reiji battles.
They're the Build Fighters everyone is talking about! Their goal is to enter the Gunpla Battle World Tournament -- and win!

Great show
by Tdawgx77 -
Heres the cons which is why i gave it 4 stars.
It is dubbed in english which i love. The main problem i have is that the characters voice's sound like a really BAD fandub. It sounds hollowish at times and like they are speaking threw a microphone into the mic. Some of the voices dont quite match the jap character voices, but once again, that could be from the hollow/mic'ish sound effect. If feels like they dubbed it and rushed it to market to make a couple bucks without evening out the voice/ost balance. Sometimes the voices overpower the bgm. If you saw the redub of Cardcaptor sakura, you'll have an idea of what im talking about.
The other little thing i noticed is they used a different voice over for the "set your gp base" part of the show. I have no idea why, the original one was in all english and matched it perfectly, the redub sounds a little too robotic.
Brilliant Little Spin-Off

So when I first caught wind of Gundam Build Fighters, I was initially skeptical. It was essentially Angelic Layer except with itty bitty Gundams. However, the series manages to capture the same kind of emotional depth that Angelic Layer puts out, hitting similar but much more impactful beats. It has some of the best Gundam battles I've seen in recent years and the designs are top notch. The characters are simple enough to keep interest without being too flat, and while there is a little bit of sheer weirdness going on with the plot line, its a good addition to any Gundam fanatic's library.
Pure Gunpla Fun, With a Touching Character Story
by Elliott -
Having seen almost every entry of the Gundam saga, I can say that BUILD FIGHTERS is one of the few masterpieces. This show drops the pretension of other serious war dramas and just knows how to have fun with the wide array of mobile suits from over three decades. (Even the intentionally forgotten G-Saviour gets a cameo!) As geeky as this show makes me feel with the expertly animated battle sequences, it also features a touching story between two best friends and the fellow Gunpla builders they meet along the way. Do not miss this show.

This is a good gundam anime series one of my favs in the franchise imho it's got lots of heart and love for the gundam franchise and it's characters and is great if your a Gundam fan and even more so if you are a gunpla=gundam model kit builder like I have become recently Oh though I'm still a newbie and have only made 3 and am still learning the detailing and stuff like that but I'll learn more and get better soon enough I'm sure and then I'll be good at building gunpla but yeah it's a great gundam anime series and you should watch it and I can't wait to get gundam build fighters try to next which should be soon since I pre-ordered it on dvd also at the same time I ordered this but yeah and the dvds are ok to i mean there just standard dvds so nothing to much but they get the job done just fine so there ok. :)

Good Show

I finished watching this anime today and i really liked it. All of the colors were vibrant and bright on blu ray, i thought the english dub was cringe-worthy the first 2 or 3 episodes but it got better as the show went on and i liked it by the end. I highly recommend this for any gundam fans. :D
Excellent

Greatest Tribute to the Franchise
by cyberxspeed -
Gundam Build FIghers takes an already done concept in other shows but it is a fresh one for the franchise. Contrary to other Gundam shows, the seriousness & the drama takes the back seat while the FUN is the main focus.
There's a good chunk of extras including short animated / picture drama spin off clips and some interviews. The bluray menus are simple and easy to navigate, no long loading animations transitioning to the sub menu.
While I give this series a 5 star, I gave this bluray a 4 star due to the abysmal dub. I don't recommend watching this format unless you want to know what a bad dub sounds like.
Big thanks to RightStuf for bringing this show over to the states. It is a must have for Gundam fans. This is the best 25 episode toy commercial I've seen yet.
Great show with poor/edited subtitle translations
by SAMUEL
as a huge gundam fan I absolutely love this show and it is great the Hong Kong dub is sub par with again the original Japanese track being the best to watch the show, but sadly I am disappointed with the quality control of rightstuf on multiple occasions throughout the show the subtitles have been edited and are inaccurate why water it down? I expect better, but again the show was very enjoyable
A longtime Gundam fan's POV
by Thorsson -
Like many in America, my first taste of Gundam was Gundam Wing on Toonami. I was hooked from the first episode I saw. That wonderful series contains sweeping geopolitical tales of teenage angst and giant robots pounding the spark plugs out of each other.
This is not that show. That's a good thing.
Gone are the heavy-handed philosophical questions, no more worrying about collateral damage like killing civilians... Gundam Build Fighters is fun, plain and simple. It is a classic example of the shonen genre: teamwork and friendship conquer all, you can do anything, etc. As such, this is a great gateway-Gundam show for children or significant others.
Something I found interesting is how often Gundam Build Fighters shows legitimate modelling techniques. I have no prior Gunpla (GUNdam-PLAstic models) experience but I do have extensive general modelling experience. All the tips given in the show are good tips any budding modeller should take to heart. For this alone, I recommend this show.

Great family Gundam fun
by Dylan
There are plenty of easter eggs to the gundam franchise to keep an eye out for. Build Fighters is also a good series to introduce people to the gunpla building hobby as some episodes have tips and pointers for building the kits.
Overall I highly recommend it to those new to the franchise and long time fans alike. The animation is beautiful and the artists did a great job of drawing attention to the main focus of the scene while also having the background defined. The music does a great job of getting the viewer excited and also capturing the upbeat nature of the show.
This series is excellent to watch with the family as a way to enjoy gundam as well for long time gundam fans without the typical seriousness of the franchise.
A Decent Entry Series
by Brian -
Gundam is a great series that miraculously blends giant fighting robots with heavy political drama. But that latter can be off putting to people trying to get into the franchise. I think this bright and cheery spin off can help ease a lot of people into the world of Gundam.
And while this show is very enjoyable, had to knock off a star because the english dubbing does take some getting used to. It's not the worst I've heard, but it did take me two episodes before I stopped being bothered by it.
