RPG-Novel Mash-up! <33

Bought this the day it was announced at Anime Expo and instantly fell in love with it as I started reading! If you love RPG's and Fantasy, this book is awesome. I never thought I'd say it, but it like "reading a video game". That's the best way I can put it.
The characters are quite likable. A few of them have your basic anime tropes, but what makes them unique is their distinct backgrounds. The main character, though relatable, isn't the typical washed out, dense MC most anime and whatnot tend to have. So it's quite refreshing.
The story offers a great balance between action, story-telling, and character interaction that doesn't leave me overwhelmed with too much of either.
Overall I give it a 5 star rating for being a great sentimental adventure novel.

An expertly crafted and refreshing take on the isekai genre.

I've been reading this series for a few years now, currently on vol. 14.5.

I originally fell in love with this story after watching the anime several years ago. I really loved the art style and the raw chaos of the story, which is what inspired me to start reading the light novels. This is an isekai story that goes to great lengths to further the genre beyond typical tropes of characters being trapped in an absurd pseudo video game world. The author does a fantastic job of keeping the theme of the world immersive and self-contained.

The writing isn't perfect (sometimes even quite bad), possibly owing to translation or cultural differences, but where it lacks in syntax it makes up for with strong character arcs and brilliant world design; instilling the reader with a sense of adventure, danger, mystery and wonder.
