Ratings & Reviews
Ok, I'll keep it simple. If you spend $200 or more, within a year, buy it as you'll break even at around $200 and after that, you'll be saving money. Fantastic deal when it was $12.00 and it's still a great deal at a measly $18.00. Add the fact that there's no taxes, unless you live in Iowa, it only makes it better.
Worth it particularly for large manga orders
by kala -
Definitely worth it if you buy a lot. I've saved more than I spent on the membership not just in the year but each order too. This past order I saved $35. I don't use the coupons others mentioned so I can't comment on that but I do think it depends on what you buy for if this is worth it for you.
This site usually has the cheapest manga. I often save 75 cents to $3 per volume, which is huge if you buy a lot like I do. I check against Amazon with Prime, B&N with membership, CDJapan, and Akadot. Rightstuf typically has the best selection and is usually cheapest or comparable (within $2) here, especially with my membership. Akadot's cheap too but has a random selection.
Blu rays/DVDs: you may find the prices even with the membership can be comparable with Amazon. Sometimes rightstuf is cheaper, sometimes Amazon is cheaper. I usually order figurines elsewhere due to price and selection. So it all depends.
Even at $18, for me this is still a great deal. I will keep getting it :)
I used to sign up for the membership, especially around sales. But now the price had a 50% increase (went from 12 to 18) and you still have to pay for shipping unless you're purchasing more than $49 worth of product. Plus way more restrictions on what's eligible for promotions. So who wants to pay $6 more to get fewer perks? If you have the money to burn, go for it. I barely purchased enough to make the $12 worth it. I don't see me purchasing enough to make the extra $6 worth it.
BUY THIS FIRST B4 U BUY ANYTHING!
by Connor -
Why? Because u gets perks that mentioned in the product description like 10% off selected items, which saves money. Buying it first before anything else will activate the membership on the same day as you bought it. Buying it with something else will make it longer for the membership to activate.
Not Sure Worth It
by Ana -
To be honest I don't even really notice how much more I'm saving with the discount but I do buy a lot from here so I'm pretty sure I saved as much as I paid for the discount a long time ago.
Do it if you buy a decent amount of anime
by Jason craig -
I buy alot of blu ray, regular dvds and books from Right Stuf. I have easily saved over $100.00. Even when I compare to other big online stores like Am**on. Right stuf is still less expensive, plus no sales tax. I am already renewing my membership at the writing of this review.
Just renewed... hope the $6 increase is still worth it
by Steve -
Can't use it on anything from Aniplex, a handful of collectors/limited editions are out, and if there's a major sale worth jumping on, you're not getting much use of your discount... However, if you buy manga, if you buy figures, if you buy things as they're released, it's far more worth it.
Yes, the price jumped up by 50%, but I'm sure I saved over the cost of this membership last year when it was $12. Would I prefer it still be $12? Of course. Would I have liked to see some justification for the increase, or some new benefit to paying 150% of what I did before? Definitely. Is it still worth it? The way I spend, most likely, yes. The way you do? Maybe not. You may not be able to justify those extra $6 since last year. It is another $60 to make it back in savings after all.
Benefits keep shrinking
by Zac -
When I started Got Anime, it was $12. I was surprised how long it stayed $12 with other increasing membership costs. I still find the discount worthwhile, but the difference is shrinking.
In other memberships where the price creeps up, the benefits stay level or grow. In this one, the benefits are shrinking.
Originally, I got: up to 10% off most products; discounts included items other than manga and video; 180 day returns
Now I get: up to 10% off select products; every non-manga non-video item I want is excluded from the discount; 60 day returns
I usually choose free shipping, and they hold things to combine shipping. This is fine, as I would pay for faster shipping if I wanted it sooner. But 'priority order processing' does not seem to work. On rare occasion, I place an 'in stock' order and watch it drop to 'backorder' or lower, where it languishes a while, sometimes never to ship. The order should reserve the item at that point, not just before shipping.
Could be more clear on discount rates
by Jackson -
This membership used to be worth 10% off non-sale items, now it's worth "up to 10%" which is looking more like 5% off most items. It's still a decent deal if you make a lot of purchases, but I think they should be more clear on the rate since it seems somewhat deceptive to me. So if you're purchasing this mainly for the discount off normal prices, you may want to make sure the other provided benefits are important to you. In the future they could reduce items "eligible" for discount down to a mere fraction of the items available on site.
Cheap, Brand NEW & Easy
by H. Al Ali -
Take a step back and look at the big picture here..
"For a small annual membership fee, you get
An additional discount of up to 10% off our already low prices!*
Discounts on select figures!"
in my country 1x Manga book = 21.78 US Dollar
if i were to buy full set of 16 volumes it will be around 350 dollar
but here you get Extra 10% Discount and approximately monthly & weekly discounts such as "Back to School sales", " Tsundere Sale" and even more.
if you add all of the above discounts and promo codes you can almost pay $8.77 and below for each volume, plus some of them is up for clearance and price go below 6$ for certain titles.
If each title is $8.77 x 16 volumes = almost $140 + free shipping...
rather than going into Ebay for used Manga. Get it Fully Brand NEW with such amazing prices + Discounts on select figures! i <3 Shiro figure - No game no life
Ok for some pointless for others.....
by JEFF -
So the price has gone up and the discount seems pretty pointless anymore. I ordered the gundam wing collectors thinking that would pretty much pay for the membership. Which it did not I got about 3% off and thats it. I pretty much only buy Blu rays and this membership seems to be less and less useful. Not to mention the near useless coupon they send out that you are better off just waiting for something to go on sale.
What a savings!
by KATELYN -
I have had my membership and year! I have saved more than the prices of the membership. If you buy stuff once a month or every other month. It's so worth it.
by JAMES -
I just got the membership but received no notice it was in effect and I don't see any visual cue when I login that I have the membership. It might help show the value of they kept a running total of how much you saved so far by using the membership.
I guess I need to buy something to if it is working.
by Chris A. -
I think the price increase was a bad look. I can see other people are disappointment as well. It was worth it before but now I am not so sure.
Getting Greedy RightStuf?
by Lydia Merillion -
The Got Anime? membership is great , however it has increased by 50% this year - going from $12 a year to $18.
A little excessive, don't you think?
Totally worth it once you understand it..
You might be thinking "Wow this has gone up by $6 just this year" but everyone is forgetting that this is ONLY $18 PER YEAR - not per month. I've paid for recurring memberships and don't use them as frequently as what I use this membership. You make your money back in no time especially if your a figure collector. You can save upwards of $6 or so on just 1 figure by being a Got Anime Member.
It's perfect for figure collectors and people who purchase frequently. If you're only purchasing once every few months you could probably get away with paying a little bit extra instead of buying the membership.
by Touya -
my opinion it's alright i mean you get even more dicounts on almost everything in store which is really nice and you cant beat the membership price 18$ for a year pretty good only downside i thought it would come with free expedited shipping since it said "priority processing" which is kinda cheeky. I like it and i use it to purchase and preorder all the new manga i like. i'd recommend it thought not worthy of a five star at the moment. if i can change my review in the future if this membership improve i'll do so and give it a five star or write a five star review.
They're charging more for less
by Fernando -
As someone who spent the last few years as a member it came as a nasty surprise to see the price increase from 12 dollars to 18, I figured it would still be worth it since I buy a lot of anime but upon rereading the description it really isn't. The 10% discount has been changed to say up to 10% and the other perks seem to have been downgraded and more items seem to be excluded from the discount then ever before at this point it's simply not worth it.
You don't have to buy much for this to be worth it.
by Jonathan -
Whether getting the membership is worth it is a simple matter of math. You save 10% thanks to the membership. If it costs $18, then all you have to buy is $180 worth of stuff during the year, and you've broken even. Anything beyond that, and you're saving money.
With how much anime and manga costs, you really don't have to buy many series a year before you're spending $200+. So, unless you're buying only a series or two a year or buying most of your anime elsewhere, the membership is totally worth it and then some. And when you combine that with rightstuf's recurring sales, you save a _lot_ of money. I don't know of anywhere that has prices that can compete with the combination of rightstuf's sales and membership. I buy almost all of my anime and manga during rightstuf's sales.
Not all of the rest of the benefits are worth much (like the coupons that can't be used during sales and are thus worthless), but with how much you save with the membership, the other benefits are just gravy.
It's just like a Video Game microtransaction..
by Vii X -
So I've been a massive anime/manga nerd forever and have always looked for the best deals around. This was worth it when it was 12/year. I had a hard time swallowing the explanation that they gave for the price hike to 18/year. They have yet to follow through with any of it as far as I can see. Plus they pull some serious crap with their wording on the specials. Not the first time they did this but now. No. Never worth it. They had a special where you pay $75+ on sentai filmworks and get 5 stufbucks. But they never said in the description you'd have to cough up $75 more to use it. It's just as bad as Ubisoft/Activision/EA microtransactions where they give you an incomplete game and make you shell out to get more of the actual main story. I might do it. But they'll have to make a pretty big and fair sized change in certain areas. Everyone should really send them a note on that. (IMO) maybe they will then.
Not worth it anymore
by Wes -
With most new manga only receiving a 5% discount instead of 10%, you now have to spend $360 a year just to break even. Most of the good sales aren't even eligible for membership discount anyways, so it is a lot harder than it sounds.
Membership for Heroes

I really am enjoying my membership! I have gotten many deals from having it! It really helps to have it and you can use it with other deals! I wish there was a way of purchasing a life time membership though!
A Membership That Is Losing Value Despite Increasing Prices
by Dude Its Rob -
My membership is expiring soon and I just noticed the price hike. Guess who isn't so concerned about renewing? The membership is losing its value, and they're raising the price. This doesn't make sense to me. More often than not, the sales apply to everyone so the membership typically only saves you pennies.
a very good purchase
by Joseph -
helps to buy more stuff than you need cut down on shipping and handling, good too get when you want to bundle your items
by Cassie -
I've had this membership for years now, but I've always had mixed feelings about it. There are so many things you can't use the base discount on, including a lot of sales, and often when they send special coupons it's only for 5% off, which is not a lot at all. Now that I see they increased the price from $12 a year to $18, I don't think it's worth it at all. It's a shame, because I love this site, but I can't help feeling that they're not too interested in offering any kind of real savings to their customers.
