Interesting

Very good book with a very interesting point of view. Quite difficult to dissolve the metaphoric language but the art and story is good and leaves you wanting more after the book is finished. Really good buy ;]
Seinen At Its Finest

A must own for any fan of Asano or enthusiast of seinen manga. Goodnight Punpun is shockingly Asano's most psychologically challenging manga to date. Asano yet again explores the harsh realities of humanity via coming of age tale, this time with an absurdist/surreal take on themes like morality, sexuality, disillusionment, adulthood, etc. Dark and metaphorically rich, Goodnight Punpun is as psychologically engaging if not more so than most works of literature coupled with some of the most beautiful and uniquely detailed art-styles in the manga industry. Not for the faint of heart or for younger audiences, as is the case with most all of Inio Asano's works, prepare to feel every emotion under the spectrum.
Childhood Is Hell
by Karl
Punpun meets the new girl in class, falls in love at first sight, and goes on wacky adventures with his friends!
Few mangaka have the unflinching eye for reality that Inio Asano has. People suffering from depression and anxiety will find treasure in his work. These 2 volumes of Punpun deal with particular anxieties and terrors of childhood, like first love, yearning for a better life, abusive parents, and other fun stuff.
And just like real life, it only gets harder for Punpun from here on out....

What a truly human story. I greatly enjoyed this first volume and the realism in its characters. My volume came undamaged and I really like the style of release. I love french flaps.
This is not a book for ill, broken or lost people

A story that connects to the deepest crevices of a humans id and ego. The reader is supposed to connect with punpun and sometimes the story can be so on the nose it hurts. So if you can bare the pain this will probably be one of the most amazing books you could ever read. Extreme topics are covered in the story so readers digression is advised ESPECIALLY if you are young.
Life: The Manga
by Some Dude
I don’t like romance, slice of life, or drama as much as other genres, which made me hesitant to buy this, but I am so glad I did.
Goodnight Punpun portrays life in the most real way possible, and the first volume perfectly portrays elementary school and early childhood. Punpun is such an interesting protagonist, as anyone can relate to him throughout the story, and every character is so cleverly developed that any interaction you miss can be crucial to the emotional impact later in the story. The art accompanies this by being some of the greatest drawings you will ever see in your life. Inio Asano has a way of portraying certain events through punpun’s life, both through story and art, which will leave you speechless at times.
All in all, Goodnight Punpun is a manga everyone should read at some later point in their lives, as it is hilarious, depressing, uplifting, and beautiful all at the same time
Love this series , hard not to pick up

Slice of life but with reality all over, very cool too see pun pun grow in each book but also that this story is portrayed in way that most people are ugly(I love this concept because you rarely see a ONLY normal looking in manga), and the MC family is portrayed as BIRDS! very unique book you won't see anywhere else, a must have for people who enjoy slice of live that's out of the usual.
Yeah, you are gonna wanna buy this

I have to start off by saying this is the best manga series of all time. It is truly a different work that excels all other manga and is without a doubt on its own level. A warning I have for new readers is that this series is extremely depressing, and you need to have a healthy mindset to jump into it. Not for the faint of heart.
If you are into more psychological works, maybe seinen too, you will love this.
The book itself is very good quality and built extremely well. The pages are whiter then teeth! If your looking for quality guys, trust me, you are gonna wanna get these. Very premium. Very worth it.

in all honesty this manga is really well written. i wont lie and say i was on the edge of my seat while reading but from what ive seen inio asano has a way of making you slowly realize how bad things actually are. you read through the pov of punpun and while not everything is great in his life you sort of brush passed things that happen as if they were no big deal until you finish reading and start thinking to yourself, "wow that was really sad and dark" this manga is so powerful and im excited to read the rest.
