Fast Forward

by -

Be ready to fast forward... instead of spending time on developing new characters or storylines, you are greeted with a 25 minute recap of season one. The movie has a story that pretty much follows the first season, but I will not post any spoilers. Just know that there is very little added content and the first 25 minutes was a complete waste.

Powerful, but short; just like its bad guys!

First off, this is described as a movie but it's more of ultra-long episode. It covers a section primarily from Goblin Slayer volume 5 and adapts it in an hour long extended episode. The first twenty five minutes preceding this is a recap episode of the first season. This does showcase some of the series better moments, but what you want is the new content. The new material is good, though the character of Noble Fencer is a little underdeveloped, and the action sequences are at least as impressive as the original season.
Ultimately, this is a nice self-contained extension to the existing Goblin Slaver franchise, but it is important to remember what you're really paying for is an hour's new entertainment not the 1h 30min listed on the runtime (as the recap is 25 minutes).

Skip the first 25 minutes

I love Goblin Slayer. But man does the anime adaptation leave alot to be desired.
This adapts volume 5 of the novel. One of the best volumes of the novel series.
The first 25 minutes is a recap. That's pretty lame. But also as someone who has read the novel, they cut out SO MUCH good stuff that makes the tail end of this movie supposed to have weight... but since the early bits of the novel were not adapted, those are absent here and it just falls flat.
While I enjoyed that this part was at least adapted, man it could have been so much more.
You buy this if you're already a fan of the series. Wait for whenever there is a price drop on this one. I bought it cause I want to show support to a series I love.

Still a recommended buy for Goblin Slayer fans

I am a fan of the "Goblin slayer" TV series, and also agree with other reviewers regarding the 25 minute recap being unwanted. But this is the debut of 'Noble Fencer' as well, who will have different role(s) to play in the (recently announced) second season of "Goblin Slayer" back in Japan. So basically, the movie seems more a 60 minute episode or story arc ( I did skip the first 25 minutes! ) that introduces a new character who will have some interesting changes/developments in the next up-coming TV series of "Goblin Slayer".

Solid & Fun Yet Unnecessary Film Sequel

Despite being 85 minutes long, the film itself actually clocks in around 56 minutes because of a half hour recap of the 1st season. The recap is not needed. The remaining time is good old Goblin Slayer action & moments that fans of the show will enjoy. It doesn't add anything new or different, but its a harmless extra arc about the group going to save a missing adventurer.

Promos included. Dub & Sub high quality. Fans of the show will enjoy this, but again its not going to change or add anything with in the shows lore. Its just a nice extra bite of "Goblin Slayer" greatness.

Good "OVA" and Movie

by -

This is two on one feature, the first is a special ep called 'The Priestess's Log' that is a recap of the series, I don't think is bad since the series S1 ended on 2018 and this release on 2020. Then is the actual movie, I feel is true to the series and really enjoy it. I feel that they improve how it looks and the CGI merge beautifully with the 2D animation.
