About Girls und Panzer der Film Blu-ray/DVD
In Girls und Panzer der Film, when the Ministry of Education goes back on its promise to keep Ooarai Girls Academy open, the task of saving the five-mile-long Academy Ship from the wreckers falls to Miho and her barely-seasoned tankery team. However, things go off track almost immediately.
While the Oorai tank crew may have won the high school tournament, they're now facing a larger and more experienced university team, and if they fail, their armored vehicles will be forfeit! Will they be swapping their tanks for the memories? It's possible, but winning a tank battle is all about tactics and teamwork, and the fledgling Ooarai students have more friends and allies than anyone suspects. Get ready for another high-caliber round of the only sport where "having a blast" doesn't necessarily mean you're having a great time, as the Ooarai team puts everything on the line!

A new challenge for the Ooarai Girls High School
by Ivan -
This 2015 feature-length movie is a continuation of the hit 2012 Japanese anime television series, but done with a more lavish budget. Once again, the girls from Oorai High must win a crucial tank match to save their school from being decommissioned by the Ministry of Education.
The film's military detail is spot on: one suspects they had an expert in tank history involved somehow with the production.
Friendship between the girls is another crucial element in the mix that makes this work so well. The television series that preceded the film involved us deeply in the lives of each of the principal characters MAKE SURE TO WATCH IT FIRST!
If you're a military history buff who has no idea what anime is, there is easily enough here just in historical details to hold your interest. If you like military affairs AND anime, then this is an unparalleled visual feast. If you are in doubt, give it a try, you won't be sorry!
A Pleasant Surprise!
by Devon -
I'm frequently a bit disappointed when a movie comes out after a full series that I love. Not this time! I was very pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
It had a cute, enjoyable plot and the animation was excellent with lovely backgrounds and fast-paced tank action. It was a nice, long movie giving all the girls ample screen time while still introducing a few new characters. It was a fun movie throughout ending with a super cute touching move by a super cute new character.
Definitely add this to your collection if you are a Panzer Girl fan as you won't be disappointed.
A Pillar of Human Achievement

This movie takes all of the elements that make GUP great and pushes them to the extreme. It exceeded my expectations and is a must-see for fans of the series. The only downside is that there were a few cast changes with the English dub, and I've heard a short OVA taking place after the film ends didn't make it onto this bluray release. Unlike the series which was about 50/50, Der Film is roughly 25% girls and 75% Panzer. Given that, and the huge size of the cast (expanded even more so in the film) it's surprising how little time we actually spend with the Anglerfish team. You may feel slightly shortchanged in that aspect. Too many characters, not enough time! Overall, the film prioritizes it's ridiculously epic tank showdown, and in that regard you will not be disappointed.
This BluRay/DVD combo was everything I could hope for and more. I'm a huge fan of Girls und Panzer, and since I had the entire series, when I heard there was a movie I couldn't wait. The dual languages are fantastic. The storyline is awesome, and it sets up a continuation of the series.
I HOPE, I HOPE, I HOPE.
Your service, as always, was above par. You are my go to place for all things Manga and Anime.
For All Ages, Literally!

Perhaps I’m the last person who should express an opinion to this series/OVA’s. A retired veteran and a self-proclaimed amateur military historian (tricked into watching anime by my son), Girls Und Panzers became one of my favorites, and Der Film has not disappointed me. For both otakus and old fogies out there, it is a great caricature of the machines and nationalities with a feel-good storyline from beginning to end. The only drawback is I am becoming an anime fan because of it. RightStuf will have to put up with me a little longer.
Girls Und Panzer Der Film ist wunderbar!
by Stark -
If you enjoyed any of the Girls Und Panzer series than this movie is sure to please. It's everything that made the series such a success in a movie format. The battles are even bigger and the cast is too as it uses all the characters who have appeared in the series to date as well as the introduction of some who haven't. The visuals are crisp and colorful and the sound is rich. There were a few changes on VAs but the acting is superbly done. Highly recommended!
want to give it 5 stars
by yoko -
read my review of the real Anzio battle, and you will know how I feel about this movie. I'm not upset that I spent money to buy this... I'm upset that the ones who made it (& Anzio) didn't know what made girls und panzer great. the overall feel of the anime just wasn't right, or the same as the original. I did notice allot of different names in the credits and the sound on sentai BD,s is terrible lately. I'm not upset about buying this one, I'm upset that it wasn't better. I want to give it 4 or 5 stars... but I can only give it 3 :(
not girls und panzer TV

this doesn't feel Japanese at all. this feels forced to me. I know I gave it 3 or 4 stars... but I just don't enjoy watching this for my first time. :( the original and ova are worth buying. Anzio and der film... buy at your own peril... I have only just watched the latter one time... but watching made me angry enough to post a review. Girls Und Panzer and the OVA are amazing... panzer is one of the top 10 anime I would take to my grave. that is why I am sad with this encore! its not the first time I'm disappointed, but whatever... for some reason this show made me angry. :/
One of the greatest of ALL TIME. Why then 4-stars, you ask??
Girls und Panzer der Film to me is undoubtedly one of the greatest anime movie of ALL TIME. Watch it, you won't regret it--and since you'll be watching it, I will skip the "synopsis." Why, then, am I only putting four stars??
1) No "Alice War!" OVA. It's only 16 minutes long, so it won't make a stand alone release like "Anzio" did. So, if it isn't on this release, that probably means it won't be available from Sentai.
2) Some music were changed from the original. Katyusha song, once again, was replaced (TV special did this, too). "Panzerlied" was another that was replaced with a rather thin arrangement of "Erika." Not public domain in the US??
3) Minor audio lapse in the scene where Miao surveys the battlefield, at least on BD. Haven't tried DVD.
Couldn't have Asked For More.
Visuals: The explosions look fantastic, the smoke looks real, and the 3D tanks vs 2D animation fit together seamlessly. No complaints.
Music: If you liked the music in the TV series, you will not be disappointed with the film. The music contains remixes of songs from the TV series, as well as having new songs. My only complaint being Sentai didn't license the song "Katyusha" and shoehorned in a song that doesn't fit the mood of the scenes where it replaced it.
The Sub/Subtitles: Nothing bad to say about the VA work or subs, they're great.
The Dub: I can't say I would recommend it. Dialogue is completely changed in some places, and barely makes sense. The tone of some scenes is completely changed due to the dub. One scene is changed from being spoken in the original to being sung in the dub, and Sentai even added dialogue in places where there is no dialogue in the original, why add dialogue that doesn't exist?
TL;DR: This series is everything a Garupan fan could have asked for.
