Surprisingly good

This is one of the few good live action anime adaptations i love this film and how accurate it is and when it takes its liberties its still great. But that cgi is rough.
Surprisingly Good!

I have NEVER read the Gintama manga OR seen the anime. I only judge based on the MOVIE itself.
Sometimes, the best you can hope for is that the SPIRIT of the source material is preserved. Generally, animated adaptations turn out better.
I enjoyed Gintama more than I thought I would. It is one of the funnier Asian films I've seen since Kung Fu Hustle and a very good action film as well. The fights are well-choreographed and works as "live-action anime."
Yes, it's lower budget and it breaks the Fourth Wall at times pointing this out but that works well within this film. The humor can be appreciated by Westerners and it even feels like a GOOD Western comedy. I hope Gintama 2 gets licensed!
