Solid One Volume Manga
by Richard
This is a great manga with fantastic artwork. I wish it was more than one volume.
Berserk-lite??
by Zach -
Are you a fan of beetles? Dislike robots peeing on you? It doesn't matter! You'll love this series!
This is a great short story about two characters with unexpected abilities in an even more unexpected world -- that is, if you're not already familiar with Kentaro Miura's works. Everything about this one-shot from the art to the story and characters to the dark, fantastical setting is almost on par with his better known series Berserk. So whether you're a new-comer or a longtime fan of Berserk looking for something similar to pad out these years of waiting, I can give a big-time RECOMMEND.
The quality of the release is standard Dark Horse -- a little on the smaller side, but looks and feels great.
A Fun Little Story
by Eduardo -
It's just a fine manga by Kentaro Miura of Berserk fame. The art is on point as always. The storytelling is compelling enough to keep you reading to the very end. I do love the world building. Especially in the way he uses his art with no exposition from characters or a narrator to tell you the history of a location and its inhabitants. You can see the love of kaiju and wrastling shine through. It also gets quite kooky and is surprisingly funny. A definite recommend for fans of Miura.
A Whimsical One-Shot
by Nomad -
Very few authors have multiple hit series, and I have to be honest in saying I don't think this one an exception. This manga is a side-project from the author of Berserk, and while it is interesting, it is not the same level of masterpiece of his prior work.
I wouldn't call the story bad, but I wouldn't call it amazing either. There were certainly a few flaws in the characters and setting.
Perhaps if this series went longer it could have developed further into a stronger story. But there are also many mediocre series that never evolve further even after going for a long time.
There also exist One-Shots that are even more amazing than this one with better premises that somehow fail completely even with good beginnings. So you will just have to use your imagination to say how this series would have turned out.
If you are a fan of the art in the second half of Berserk than you may be interested in this volume simply to check out more of his artwork in a different setting.
Worth Picking Up!
