This dub is very different!
by Joe
You can break this series down to three parts it starts pretty tame with just a few panty shots and some rather tame sexual comments and movie star reference's amongst other reference's would be a t.v.13 rating. As you get into the middle of the series it starts getting more adult with the quips and reference's and if this series is the one I've seen the 'bad words' were bleeped out and would be a little higher adult rating maybe a t.v.14. The last few episodes go all out with the sexual reference's some of which were very adult and they didn't bleep any of the F.bombs of which their are many they started getting into stereotype jokes and pretty much went all out with it this gets a definite t.v.MA rating towards the end of this series. It was a pretty funny series most of time I do like it lot i just don't understand why it went like it did I've never seen another series that went this far from where it started off. I guess it's up to you to whether you'll like this one or not I did!
Absolutely hilarious!
by Hikari
This is one of the funniest anime I have ever seen, if you watch it in English dub, that is. So many offensive jokes, it's great. This is certainly NOT for everyone, however. If you get offended easily, then stay away from the dub!! If you have an open mind, though, then this is a very enjoyable anime, it is incredibly funny.
Absolutely Hilarious!
by Brock
The dub makes this one of the funniest animes ever. However, the humor is very unPC and some may be offended by some of it. If that will not bother you and you enjoy comedy this is one you should get.
funny, crude, and twisted dub.
by L
Voice acting is good. The animation is average. What really makes this series is the dub. It is twisted and crude and is definitely meant for mature audiences. It is comparable to Shin Chan where liberties where taken with the english dub. It is funny but in the end I would recommend that people wait for the price to go down more before purchasing.
Merica! The only anime that doesn't need an Abridged series.
by GiggityGiggity
You got to understand that this dub was focused on a different audience. If you've watched the original Japanese version then you'll know what I mean. Apparently this series didn't do too well in Japan and when ADV (the original dubbing studio) got licensing rights to this anime, Japan told them to go all out. And that's exactly what the official voice actors did. In a funny sense, this anime is like an Abridged series. There will be times where you'll do a double-take on what they said. "Did they really just say that?". This anime created a new form of fans specifically towards the dubbed version which brought back new life to this series. Enjoy!
One of a Kind
by Netwing
This is a classic show that is really one of a kind if you watch the English dub. The Whole anime is an impromptu lines made up on the spot no script at all and the joke (while some are dated) hit on a crude un PC mark but they are funny. Even the animation seems to fit the new dub to a tee. So if ya up for some hearty laughs and are not easily offended I would grab this Cult Classic show befor it gets dragged off shelves again!
Funny seriously wrong but funny
by ADAM
I do not know what else to say that i didn't put in the title except for may that this show is not kid friendly.
Pretty Much A Prefect Storm

Ghost Stories is what happens when you get a below than advantage anime and make something great out of it. Certainly one of the best English dubs out there. If you're looking for a good comedy, you'll want to grab Ghost Stories!
Episode 9 had me in tears
by Martin Querio
The literal only reason to watch this is for the Dub, its pretty funny at the beginning but they stop caring around episode 9 and it seriously becomes one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. Definitely worth your time and money.
Episode 9 had me in tears

The literal only reason to watch this is for the Dub. The first handful of episodes are pretty funny but they stop caring around episode 9 and it quickly becomes seriously one of the funniest shows I have ever watched.
An Official Spoof!
by Andrew -
Ghost Stories begins as a fairly faithful portrayal of the original script but becomes increasingly satirical and self aware as the series progresses. By the end the characters are breaking the 4th wall and mocking the storyline to ridiculous extremes. I enjoyed watching the show fall apart and become more about the actor's quips than the actual plot. Towards the later episodes I wasn't even sure what was going on half the time because conveying story details took a back seat to the added comedy. I also enjoyed all of the mid-2000s era references; made me feel like W was still in office. I'm glad this can live on my shelf because there is nothing else quite like it in the world of anime; a glorious achievement from the legacy of ADV.
Officially Abridged - But A Bit Pricey
by Sandwich Spread -
It's a cult classic simply because of the english dub. If you aren't familiar with the story behind this dub, you should look it up. I'm sure that the dub is not for everyone so maybe look up a few scenes first. Otherwise, if you're looking for a great story, this isn't really for you. The Japanese dub is fine as well, but it was meant to be a legitimate story, so by itself it's not really worth the buy.
The release itself is pretty standard, disc and case with no goodies. It is lacking the unaired 21st episode though, which is disappointing. The price is also pretty high for something so novel and old.
Overall it's a good add to the collection, but I'd wait for a sale.
Take a Pass
by John E -
I'm normally a Fan of Dub and I picked this Anime up because of its infamous Dub.
I liked the characters, the talking Cat was funny but the overall episode plot was random and not much character development. I couldn't bring myself to complete the series because of the cringe I was getting from all the American Pop references in the Dub.
Best Dub Ever
by Alex -
I purchased this for my fiance because we had heard that the English dub was a half way decent time. We were more than surprised to find this a terribly funny and engaging anime from start to finish. I was actually pretty bummed when the final episode wrapped up. If you like actual adult humour and an anime that will actually poke fun at itself, this is an entirely worthwhile watch. Highly recommend!
Idiotic, incoherent, ugly, yet it's a must watch.
by Steve
The pinnacle of ADV's nonsense resides in this abomination of a failed anime. Take the natural insanity of Excel Saga, put the same guys running that dub work in a scenario with free reign over something that isn't even supposed to be good. The result is exactly what you'd expect.
And just like the Excel dub, it's not something you can easily binge. Watch an episode or two at a time and get your laughs at the stupid nonsense you're watching. Go watch something coherent for a while, then come back. If you binge it, you'll burn out. If you know what you've got, it's fantastic in its stupidity.
Of course, thanks to the niche value, it's hard to really stomach the pricing. Needs a decent little drop to really make it a must buy.
Amazing Dub
by David -
If you watch the english dub, it is offensive and hilarious! Much of the script was rewritten (and ad libbed) for the english dub. If you are looking for a comedy and enjoy offensive humor this is a great show to check out.
The Plain Jane of Anime DVDs
by Michelle -
The series itself is a brilliant piece of satirical humor that seems more like an abridged series than an actual dub.
I like this anime a lot, but the product itself is a little lackluster. It's just a normal DVD (no blu-ray option availible as far as I know of), and there isn't a lot of extras on the DVDs either. The case isn't the prettiest thing and isn't going to turn any heads because of looks. But if you don't care about aesthetics or extras then this is a absolutely fine DVD to own!
Anime + South Park + Goosebumps= Ghost Stories
by Dakota -
If you buy this, its probably because of the insane English dub & its interesting history behind said dub. Well, it is just as funny & insane as the legends say. If you're easily offended by certain jokes this may not be a good choice for you. Very much like South Park, the dub lays into every topic under the sun. Fowl language, offensive jokes, breaking the 4th wall, & over the top voice acting galore!
The actual plot entails a group of kids who find a book on how to defeat specific ghosts that haunt an old school house. Each episode they deal with various paranormal entities.
