college fun continues

by -

The first season of Genshiken introduced the college club, and the members becoming friends while getting to know eachother as more than just Otaku. The second season starts to see the characters starting to realize that as they are getting closer to being adults they can still be into their various Otaku interests but also need to take into account larger issues of the real world. Oguie is a great addition expanding the views and different issues they face.

One of the things I like about Genshiken 2, in addition to being an entertaining story, is how the story can show otaku comedy without ever having to resort to fan service for gags/attention that is way too common in other series about otaku. I think that is one of the reasons it sort of sucks you into the characters being in college and dealing with bigger concerns of the characters.

A Great Series Continues Forward!

The Second Season of Genshiken is so amazing. With the cast having to come to terms with many things. In particular, the fact that real life outside of being an Otaku is coming to hit them hard and fast. Genshiken 2 is able to keep the attention of its watchers without having to fall back on common tropes and events to keep people interested.

After I purchased this DVD and watched it with a few of my non-anime friends, they got hooked and are going to buy this and the first season to watch and have for themselves.
