About Genocyber Blu-ray

Genocyber contains episodes 1-5 of the OVA directed by Koichi Ohata in standard definition on a Blu-ray disc.

The Genocyber: a nightmarish combination of cybernetics and psychic potential!

As the nations of the world begin to merge their armies into one international force, world peace is now being threatened by the private armies of individual corporations. The Japanese Kuryu Group may have discovered the one weapon which will tip world power in their favor.

At the center of this covert industrial espionage are two sisters: One whose body is mostly machine and the other who has the mind of a wild animal and possesses unbelievable psychic powers. If these two could be combined into one, a weapon beyond anything ever conceived would be created: Genocyber - a cybernetic monster strengthened with pure psychic energy!

But their scientist father never considered how deeply each girl hates the other nor how far his employers would go to ensure the project's success. Now as the battle for possession of Genocyber erupts, the cyber-punk world of the future explodes with violence as not even death can be taken for granted.

Incoherent, hellish, macabre, corny. 4/5

The original apocalyptic psycho-spiritual demonic cyber body horror “super cult” anime is back! Bizarre anime about two sisters, one is a cyborg and the other is a feral street person, both with extreme “vajra” psychic powers enhanced by technology. They unaccountably swap heads, then are merged into a horrific cyborg demon creature capable of mass destruction by a shadowy cult organization. It's not really clear why, the creature simply must destroy everything as that is its nature. Cities all over the world are leveled and frequently people suffer terrible fates and explode in heaps of vivid gore or are merged with "vajranoids". The animation is pretty good, the narrative and exposition are pretty weak. For freaks only.

Appreciate Discotek releasing this. Watched in part back decades ago (VHS!) but never saw the entire series until now. Watched the notorious dub, would like to re-watch subtitled later on to see if it makes any more sense.

A Deliciously Violent Blast from the Past.

In stark contrast to today's soy based, nihilistic, empowered entertainment, the ulraviolent anime of the 80's is bloody, punchy, and holds nothing back.

Genocyber is a gem from that era. The basic plot revolves around two young girls with tremendous psychic power. When they are fused, they become Genocyber, a powerful being capable of leveling entire cities with ease.

The action is tense and frantic, the deaths are graphic, and the soundtrack is amazing. There is a lot to love here.
