This was a good anime with a cool Story and great art. The 13 episodes felt right and story didn't suffer from a lot of filler. The twist ending was cool too. I'm glad I bought it. I did catch it during a sale which was nice.
Another Urobuchi Classic
Gargantia is another "fish out of water" style anime, except this fish (Ledo) is from space and ends up stranded on what was once "long considered dead" planet (won't say as a potential spoiler).
Ledo is an outsider struggling to adjust to a new world vastly different from all he ever knew, and it's when these two conflicting ideals come to head that he must make the most difficult choices he's ever had to make in his life. This drives the anime quite nicely even if it drags a bit in the middle by sacrificing action for character development. The plot twist while predictable is engaging and pays off for a fantastic series. Gen's dark themes are here as well so be prepared.
If you like Urobuchi in any shape or form buy this series, or if you like a great sci-fi fantasy series with a thought provoking message with a dash of romance. Wouldn't recommend for those looking for a heavy action series or a side of the "urobutcher" factor Gen is also known for.
Imagine if 'Soldier' was crossed with 'Water World', and didn't suck
A solid mech anime. Touches on familiar themes, but effective nonetheless. Urobuchi's writing in the first and last episodes are obvious in the ebst way; the middle episodes can vary in quality, but overall a solid show. Well worth picking up when on sale.
If you like Urobuchi buy this series, or if you like a great sci-fi fantasy series with a thought with a dash of romance. Wouldn't recommend for those looking for a heavy action series as there is focus on the mc himself adjusting to a new community
Purchased on amazon, Amazing show!
What I felt originally against this show was nothing but biased misjudgements. I perceived the show as another typical mecha show which I have grown pretty bored of, yet I was wrong as I gave it a few episodes of a chance I grew to love the world in which it takes place as well as the characters. Spectacular plot twist by the end it had me on the edge! Definitely a visually beautiful spectacle as well thanks to production IG. Really nice big set with a glossy 80 page booklet :)
Purchased elsewhere, great show!
Box set comes in a beautiful package of chipboard material, comes with a shiny very nice 86 page booklet with episode guides and nice character info :) the show itself surprised me greatly as it takes a very dark turn by the last episodes definitely had me at the edge of my seat! Not your typical mecha anime! This one is simply fantastic with Production IG's beautiful animations.
Waterworld with Mechas

And it doesn't suck, like Waterworld. It is a pretty interesting series and great animation. I liked the characters and the existential concepts of the show. It provides a compelling story that makes you think about your own moral perceptions.
