Suprisingly good sci-fi manga

by

This is a solid well rounded sci-fi story. Interesting themes like time travel, the ability to grow or shrink body size, and world ending apocalypse are introduced into the plot. So much potential. It is an example of how manga can be super realistic, which makes it extra intense when crazy things start happening. There is some nudity and sex, but it is not the focus. Topics of domestic violence and social shaming are addressed, which was unexpected but I thought handled well. The main female character Chiho/PaPico is grounded and has emotional depth, which is appreciated. It is great to have a main character that is an adult film actress and written maturely. I burned through this volume and look forward to the next, it is very interesting and unique.

It's weird but not the weird I was expecting

by -

I'm all for really out there and weird concepts. And this series (based off the first volume) definitely has them. But then there's the sort of underlying awkward weird factor of how 'real' the characters are. Though the dialogue is jarringly modern (still laughing at the use of 'Chad'), plus a lot of uncensored references, there's a lot of awkward stuttering and unless something is actually happening (pretty much every scene with PaPico's boyfriend) the rhythm is sort of monotone. Not a lot goes on in this volume (not a whole lot is set up either, at least until the end) so I'm assuming the pacing is pretty slow. I'm curious as to where this is going, especially because it does involve some interesting themes you don't always see, but I wouldn't consider it a high priority series.

Not exactly what I expected

by

This started out as me looking for some plot and there is a lot of plot but the story really hooked me. I enjoy the art and the nice nods to other works they have done. Laughed at some points too. The back cover kinda lied in my opinion. I don't think she outright says she likes the MC but besides that Its a good start I will be continuing it
