Arina Tanemura is both a gifted writer and artist. This tale is about a twelve year old named Mitsuki. Her goal in life is to become a singer, while her crush has dreams of becoming an astronaut. Unfortunately, she has throat cancer and is very weak. There is a surgery that can cure the cancer, but it will take away her singing voice. Forever. She admits she would rather die singing than lose her ability to sing. Thus, she is more determined to sing, gets a singing competition form, and sneaks away from the house to participate. On the way, she runs into a Shinigami group called Negi Ramen. Will they help or hurt her on her on her path to becoming a singer? It can be found out as you read through the manga of Full Moon O Sagashite. 5 Stars.
A surprisingly bubbly manga. It's very charming and cute.

The premise of a dying girl fulfilling her final wish with magic piqued my curiosity. I thought the death theme would make the whole experience bittersweet, but it's mostly been optimistic and fun, which is a pleasant surprise. Mistuki just sees her waning days as a reason to stop hesitating to fulfill her dream and finally take a step forward. The two shinigami are fun and silly, though their banter isn't anything you haven't seen in other shoujo manga before. This first volume does drop some hints that the series may get much heavier later on, especially when you discover where shinigami come from.
Man does the author love to talk! Every other page has a footnote or sidenote of the author talking about her staff and personal experiences. It's not a bad thing, I love insight from the creators, but I'm not used to authors sharing this much.
I like this series so far. It's lighthearted, but still makes room for serious, heartfelt scenes that don't kill the lighthearted feel.
