A riceball DOES belong in a Fruits Basket! And this basket is finally available on Blu-ray!

Fruits Basket is a sweet and humble tale of young Tohru who lost her mother and implicitly her father prior to the story beginning. She ends up living with popular boy Yuki, but he and his family have a secret. When hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into animals of the Zodiac!
This a shojo series even boys can enjoy. I'm a guy in my 20s and still melt over the story. Tohru and the other characters are all very fun (especially Shigure!) and seeing how much they care for one another is always heart warming. It is a classic series I cannot recommend enough, and I'm sure it will look gorgeous on Blu-ray. It's funny, charming, and a little dark to build up the drama, but very sweet.
Great classic anime, top 10!

Great release by funimation! Although I do not like the fold out disc holder things, the box is super cute to have and the art cards are a nice bonus. The anime ofc is a good old classic anime that all anime lovers must watch!
All Shapes and Sizes

Before I get into the story review, let me just say that the Blu-ray release (both Japanese and English versions) of Fruits Basket are amazing! Lines are more crisp, images are less blurry, colors pop more, dark's and light's contrast better, and the audio is better. Definitely recommend picking up the Blu-ray!
Fruits Basket is a rather unique story, in that, not only can it be outrageously funny, but it can also be heartwarming, heart-melting, and heartbreaking all at the same time. Unlike other Shoujo series, where romance is usually the main focus of the series, Fruits Basket's main focus is really on the characters and their struggles and how they are starting to overcome their problems little-by-little. In fact, one of the many messages in the series is that: demons come in all shapes and sizes, but everyone has them; however, just because you have a demon, doesn't mean that you can't overcome it.
Cute and Classic

Very cute show. English dub is good and really happy it's out on blu-ray finally!
Wonderful collector's set

I was so excited to see this series re-released in high-quality picture in a cute collector's set. The set comes packaged in a sturdy box, though the discs themselves are housed in one of those folding sets - not my favorite, as these are susceptible to falling apart easily, but it seems to be holding up well so far.
The picture quality is great, the subtitles are well-edited and timed - what more could you ask for? I typically do not watch dubs, so I cannot comment on that, but it looks to be the original cast.
Also, the art cards are great - a mix of scenes from the anime and extra illustrations by the artist.

I love this set, I remember buying the dvd for the first time and not even knowing what the anime was about and I fell in love with it.
this is a great buy as it comes with nice art cards, the only issue I have with it as that the package opens the way the old Inuyasha and Death Note dvds where released from Viz as I prefer them to be opened the way Funimation normally does with there sets.
However GREAT SERIES!!! and worth the buy on Bluray.
A great one.
Fruit Basket is a classic one loved every bit of it.

A Really Good Classic

Man I love this show! It’s also one of the shows my family loves as well that we watch repeatedly together. I really love the box set and art cards, but I wish the set also came with the DVDs. That’s like my only complaint about Anniversary Edition.
Great Edition, average quality arrival.

I’ll say that I’m still happy with this limited edition, and that the issues I have are very minor. I received my package, opened it up, and found strange, black marks on the box of the limited edition itself. Scratches, and rub marks. They’re small so I can live with them, but as a collector I was a bit disappointed is all. Otherwise great set, except that the art cards don’t fit inside the chipboard box.

This series is truly precious! Tohru is just so cute, and the series is really funny with a hint of dark and depressing undertones. To be honest, in my own opinion this series is a timeless treasure and I can't believe it's 16 years old! However, I'm sure not everyone will agree with me, I truly hope you consider getting this. The shipping was fast and it was in great condition. Also, it looked great rewatching it on Blu-ray and it was so much fun that I finished it in only two days. The art cards this came with are really nice too and the case is so adorable I kept taking it out to look at it for a couple of days. Considering Fruits Basket is coming out with a new anime, I highly recommend this item! It will be nice to rewatch it again before the new one. Hope this was a bit of help to people, have a wonderful day/night
Classic Fruits Basket, the rice ball
by mcNosurge -
Everyone familiar with this show knows that Fruits Basket will always remain as a wonderful anime classic. This is especially true for fans who were watching anime in the early 2000s.
Despite the announcement of the New Fruits Basket adaptation that will follow closely with the actual manga, I highly recommend any younger audience who didn't get to experience it to definitely watch this one as well. Any gender will find this show to be enjoyable.
This one came out at a time when anime original changes to the original source content was the norm. When some anime had a concluding narrative instead of the, "read the source material for the rest of the story," cliffhanger ends, which leaves many non-Japanese viewers to forever ponder what the ending will ever be to their favorite anime. By no means is it in anyway inferior to the manga. It has its own unique charm and atmosphere and I wonder if the new adaptation can replicate that charm while being faithful to it's manga.
