Good content, questionable packaging

by -

Like Season 1 Part 1, this set comes housed in an attractive outer box, focusing on Yuki instead of Tohru. This time you get the Zodiac figures for the dragon, tiger and rabbit. Like the first set, these figurines are accurate to how they appeared in the show/manga, and are adorable! They feel weighted and good quality.
I'm knocking a star off the rating for the mediocre packaging. The outer box is very flimsy once again. I definitely want Funi to release a chipboard box with the final set to hold all the Amaray cases together; these boxes take up a lot of shelf room. Also, they packed in a giant rolled piece of cardboard to fill out the box this time. It actually started shedding little particles all on the inside of the box! I had to brush it out over my trashcan. There is no faux wood stand like set 1, but the price is the same. I would've liked a bonus item to make up for it. I still like the set, but it has more issues with packaging. For me, the figurines are worth it though.

FB Part 2 shines with the flashback episodes

As Tohru meets other members of the Souma clan in part 2, you also see some flashback stories on how Hana and Arisa became friends with Tohru. Of course, with life changing guidance from the Crimson Butterfly! Then, Kazama the martial arts master arrives on a repeat dark storyline from the 2001 FB anime regarding Kyo's hidden secret.

Once again, the animation is 5 stars, flimsy box is 1 star, and the three resin figures Kisa the Tiger, Momiji the Rabbit, and Hatori the Dragon are 5 stars.

The good news is that Fruits Basket the second season is confirmed, and my preference is leaning for an additional character reference pamphlet that fits in the bluray case. Its really needed in my opinion because of the huge number of primary characters and secondary characters that appear in Fruits Basket. That's what I'd like to see!

A cute, but expensive collectors set.

I am a huge Fruits Basket fan. I own almost every t-shirt and every single manga. So I obviously needed to buy the limited Blu-Ray/DVD sets. Now, I bought this on sale at 50.99, which is a fair/fine price. A bit much though for what I got. Everything is really good, but since it's the same price as the original part 1 set that also included that faux wood, I feel a bit ripped off. The box is also not as wide as part 1 so it doesn't really go well if you want to keep the disc sets in the box and put it on your shelf like it's a part of your collection, this is more something you'd want a display shelf for. The little paper weight zodiacs are super cute. The actual inside of the box is sort of weird because there's this big, kind of rough cardboard thing to keep it's structure. The art cards are nice and sturdy. So all in all, really good for collectors, otherwise I'd say just get the normal Blu-Ray/DVD set.

Pricing is everything!

I'm not going to lie, the price is what made purchase this box set. To be honest I used to think RightStuff was expensive but when I purchased this along with a whole bunch of other merch, I was blown away! What I liked about this box set aside from the price was the packaging. It was smaller than I thought it was going to be but despite the size I was pretty happy with the overall content. It came with the three zodiac animal figurines/stones which are super cute along with a few other items, including the actual DVD. For the price it was a decent purchase and I am on the hunt for the first part.
