But when Saki discovers a long-lost artifact from the past, the façade of their world is shattered and the cracks that split the foundation of their reality threaten to swallow them whole!

Faced with a bloody secret history of how their world really came to be and thrust into a nightmarish new paradigm, Saki and her companions are confronted with dangers they never knew existed and a series of choices that may change the fate of every intelligent creature on the planet - human and otherwise! To Create the Illusion of a Perfect World, How Many Lives and Futures Must be Destroyed?

by

From the New World or Shin Sekai Yori might be one of the best fantasy animes to come out in decades. Focusing the story on a group of friends who slowly start to unravel the truth behind their peaceful world. And the consequences that soon follow. What's fascinating about this anime over other titles with similar themes is that we never stay too long one chapter of their life. The story starts out with them as grade schoolers and as the anime continues it goes through several time skips. Until they are adults. This is also a title that is doesn't pull punches, including themes of genocide, slavery and homosexuality. Not to mention revelations at the end will in ensure it is an anime you will never forget.

Sentai did a wonder job bringing this title over. The english dub is great with many stand out performances. Especially from the non-human characters. The blu-ray transfer is clean with no video or audio hiccups. It's just about as close to perfect as you are going to get.

Imagine if all you knew of your world was a gigantic lie?

A great story with well developed characters that will keep you watching through to the end, with unexpected twists, emotionally scarring revelations and a fight to the death to keep the world from falling into total chaos and ruin. This story is a bit on the nose, but well worth watching more than once.

Outstanding !

To start this off show is one of the best animes around the music the animation the way the character are developed, the only thing that I didn't like was episode 8 which was not needed the show would have done better without it other than that, any anime fan would love this one don't hesitate to buy.

I Cannot Say Enough Good Things About This Anime!

by -

This unique series shows just how good animes can be at storytelling! Everything from the visuals to the characters to the story arcs is AAA quality. Even the English dub was decent, but I still prefer the original Japanese. Other reviews have no doubt expounded on the amazingness of the anime's story and setting. Let me simply second those positive reviews rather than be another echo here.

The only thing I would complain about this edition is the complete lack of any extras, interviews, commentaries, or features on any of the discs other than random trailers. For an anime as focused on quality as this one was, the producers could have shown the same effort in the American release. But that is not essential for the anime itself, so I can't take a star off for that. If a new edition comes out with worthwhile features, I'll definitely consider "upgrading" to that one. Till then, I'm content on what I have now.
