2nd Venture for Goro Miyazaki is a beautiful coming of age story!

This movie is a great example of what Studio Ghibli is always great at: blending their unique style of animation with telling a captivating story. While I wasn't a huge fan of Goro Miyazaki's first film (Tales From Earthsea), I feel like he really redeemed himself here. It helps that is father Hayao Miyazaki was involved with the screenplay, they worked well together. This is a slice of life coming of age story that feels akin to other Studio Ghibli films like Whisper of the Heart or Only Yesterday in how it builds the relationship between the main characters and just resonates well with the story. Good blend of drama, comedy, and hints at romance. Beautiful setting for the film as well, lends to some really great looking shots. It's also a fun movie, and a lot of the scenes in the clubhouse and the interaction between the boys and the girls are hilarious. Recommend to anyone!
