I first heard of this series when VIZ announced its upcoming release awhile back, and was curious so I checked it out. I completely fell in love with this manga. It explores the familiar concepts of not taking people for granted, and making the most of your time with them, through the eyes of a nearly immortal elf in a fantasy setting. While that may initially sound difficult to relate to, if anything her immortality makes it hit home even more. The story also jumps back and forth between different points in time in Frieren's life, but it's done in a way to effectively show her growth and change of heart and mindset.

Not much else to say. It's become a favorite, I'd recommend it to any manga reader and maybe even some that don't read manga, as I feel it's quite approachable.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

Intrigued by the premise, I decided to pick this one up, and I really enjoyed it. A bittersweet tale of a nigh-immortal elf who tries to make up for lost time and capture past memories long after she and her friends saved the world from a great evil. The story is pretty well paced and moves along fairly quickly. It's not the most in-depth manga, but I found the characters to be likable and the story is full of charm, even among the sadder moments. Really looking forward to the next volume.

Worth a buy imo, ThoughfulFunSeries

Great series about an immortal elf named frieren and how she deals w losing her old human companions as they age and pass. She starts to take interest in actually understanding humans in the short time they have. This volume was mostly interactions between new and old companions. I was hooked and enjoyed my read, bought vol2 and 3 aswell. Hope the series picks up in action later

To me it's one of those stories that stick with you.

This book is so relaxing yet makes me want to adventure at the same I don't know what magic it holds but if following volumes are just as good it may wind up in my top 5 manga. Through most of it there doesn't seem to be much of a plot line but as things progress little tid-bits here & there make more sense, hinting that while something may not seem important at the moment it will be integral to something else later down the road. The art matches this sweet story well and artistically speaking the character's appearance ages with them. It's not only hairstyles that change you see their facial features age through the years, particularly with Fern. I feel it's important to note because I find with most series as a character gets older the only change you see is their hair or clothes not a physical change so it's a very nice attention to detail.
