This manga is about an average nice guy who can't seem to get right with love. He finds himself in the hospital after a scooter accident caused by a passing glimpse of a girl from his past. He's fallen hard for a number of girls before, but things never work out. He struggles to remember which one it was he saw just before crashing his bike. She calls him to see if he's okay, but doesn't offer any clues as to who she is.

It really tugs on your heartstrings and it's filled with bittersweet memories of young love. I'm compelled to continue reading to find out who she is in the end and if it's not too late.

So... What exactly is going on?

by -

Let me start by saying when I typically review a manga, I review the whole series on volume 1. But I’ve only read this first volume so far.

To tell you the truth, it was an ok manga, though don’t get what the goal or flow of where this story is going. I plan to get the 2nd volume for some clarity, but all I know from reading this first volume is that we follow a boy who doesn’t have the best of luck when it comes to women. I guess what I mean to say, I was expecting a completely different story and I was a bit let down is all.

Cross my fingers for volume 2

A Let Down

by -

I expected a love story. It might be, but the story feels more episodic than romantic. It goes through the story of a bespectacled man and how he could not recall the woman who saved him from a minor car accident. He went through reminiscing one relationship story after another, but I cannot feel like he loves any of them although he claims he does. It falls flat. All the women look alike. They have similar facial structure. It is hard to distinguish one woman from the other. Personally, I will not buy the second volume. If you are interested in a light mystery and figuring out who is the woman that saved him, this might be the manga for you. Don't expect any romance. Or at least from the first volume. I had a hard time finishing this volume even though I love manga in general.

A Let Down

by -

To be honest, it was a bit of a let down. I was expecting a love story. This is not a love story.

The story followed a bespectacled man who got himself into a minor motorcycle accident, only to be saved by a woman who he completely forgot. She refused to meet him because he could not even recognized her. Then it goes into an episodic story following his reminiscent from one woman to the next. We were expected to feel sorry for the man, but I don't feel any feeling for the characters.

Besides the troubling storyline, the women are drawn almost exactly alike. Maybe he likes the same type of woman, but I have difficulty differentiating from one character to the next.

In summary, if you are interested in a light mystery to figure out who this woman was, sure. It's okay. But if you are interested in romantic story, stay clear. Or at least the first volume seems to give this vibe. I personally will not buy the second volume.

A Recommendation for Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not is a manga about all the relationships that that main character Serizawa Yuusuke has been in. Starting in middle-school and stretching to his post-university days, every relationship is shown from start to end in an almost episodic format. While each relationship seems to be an independent story, the saga slowly outlines and shapes Serizawa as a person. He's a terribly kind person, but is often blinded by working too hard and, in return, never fully understands the people he loves. It's shown that that he understands his faults, but is caught in this endless cycle of making the same mistakes. He feels like a pathetic character, but one that you just can't help by sympathize with. Serizawa blames himself for his insensitivity, indecisiveness, and lack of communication---but in the end lacks the courage to change. I love this manga a lot, enough to write about it, so I hope you'll give it a chance.

It's about the journey

by -

I feel like most of the reviews here are about the first volume. My review will be about the series as a whole.

This story isn't about finding the girl that he doesn't remember. That is just a plot device for what the actual series is about. The series go through his many ex-girlfriends. It shows his past experience with the different types of girls and how it shaped his life along the way. The happy and sad moments of each one. The hard life lessons along the way. What it means to be in a relationship. What's the right thing or wrong thing to do in a given tough situation. Each relationship was unique and some tied into each other.
