About Flowers Le volume sur ete DVD-ROM Game

Flowers -Le volume sur été- is the second game in the Flowers series of visual novels from Innocent Grey. This time we follow the story of Erika Yaegaki, a familiar face from the first game. Old wounds resurface and new friendships blossom as the girls navigate tense relationships under the blazing summer sun. Your decisions will shape the outcome of the story, with multiple endings to unlock.

Since the sudden disappearance of one of her Amitié partners at the end of spring, Suoh Shirahane has been left nursing a profound sadness. Though she tries to hide it, Suoh’s pain does not go unnoticed by her close companion, Erika Yaegaki, who feels compelled to help her ‘bookworm buddy’ mend her broken heart.

In the midst of all this a new classmate, Chidori Takasaki, arrives, disrupting Erika’s solitary lifestyle. To say that the two of them get off on the wrong foot would be an understatement, but Erika soon learns there’s more to Chidori than meets the eye. Can friendship blossom between a sharp-tongued misanthrope and the haughty class diva?

This is the Limited Edition of the game, which includes:

If you liked Printemps, you'll love Ete

I've played all 3 of the current English entries of the series, and this one is decidedly my favorite for many reasons. The biggest is probably Erika herself, a dynamic personality from Printemps who gets her turn as the main character this time. She is witty, intelligent, snarky, jaded, and yet very sensitive, observant, and caring. Going through a story through her eyes is an absolute treat. I laughed out loud at several moments and shed manly tears at others.

On top of that, she's paired with Chidori, a character I quickly came to love because I felt she was brought to life more effectively than was done with Mayuri or Rikka in the first entry. The storytelling is much tighter in Ete, with a lot of time spent on meaningful interactions between Erika and Chidori to make the development of their relationship feel more real.

Though personally, I didn't like the "alternate" route as much as the Rikka route from Printemps, but that's just personal disappointment.
