About Final Fantasy Lost Stranger Manga Volume 1

Final Fantasy Lost Stranger Manga Volume 1 features story by Hazuki Minase and art by Itsuki Kameya.

Scoring a job at Square Enix, Sasaki Shogo's dream of producing a Final Fantasy game finally seems within his grasp! But after he starts, he quickly discovers that the work has nothing to do with his favorite franchise at all... Disillusioned, his enthusiasm for FF begins waning despite his sister / co-worker Yuko's attempts to lift his spirits. Their conversation is cut short, though, when a runaway truck suddenly careens toward the two of them...!

When Shogo comes to, the first thing he sees is...a Moogle?! Wait, was that a Cure spell? And chocobos...?! Hurled into a Final Fantasy world unbound to any particular installment, how will an uber-fan like Shogo survive?!

It's final fantasy, but slightly different.

Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect when I originally picked up this series, well besides Final Fantasy. It's Isekai, which feels a bit over done these days, but it's not the typical "over powered hero" for comedic purposes or over the top items in the hero's possession. The story is serious and there are consequences for actions, it has its comedic elements and moments, but they are used properly and in a very traditional FF way.

The manga tends to do nods to all the series with "The same, but not" giving it it's own unique twists and new takes on familiar things from most of the games (FF7 and forward seem less pulled from due to their higher technology with FF14 being an exception) becoming a "theme park" much like FF14 which is very enjoyable for me. So far I'm five volumes in and going to be preordering the 6th soon enough. If you're a fan of FF in general and like more serious story Iseki without an over powered main character it's very worth picking up!
