About Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works Box Set 1 Limited Edition Blu-ray

This limited edition of Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works box set 1 contains episodes 0-12 plus original soundtrack CD 1, a 24-page booklet, and an exclusive Weiss Schwarz collectible PR card, all in a rigid box illustrated by the original character designer, Takashi Takeuchi. Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works is an alternate retelling of the original Fate/stay night series and expands the story told in the Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works movie.

Fuyuki City, surrounded by the sea and mountains, becomes the setting for an ancient ritual. Seven masters are given control of heroic spirits in order to realize the mythical Holy Grail, said to grant its owner any wish. These heroic spirits, or "servants," represent legendary heroes of various classes: Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Each master will enter into a contract with their chosen servant and battle the others to the death until only one pair remains. This is the Holy Grail War.

With her servant Archer, young and capable mage Rin Tohsaka enters the Fifth Holy Grail War as the sole heir to the prestigious Tohsaka family after her father's death. But when Shirou Emiya, a boy from Rin's school, unwittingly becomes a Master and is fatally wounded in battle, she has no choice but to save him. With Shirou and his servant Saber, Rin sets out to strike down the conspiracies surrounding the Holy Grail War. Will the Holy Grail bless Rin and Shirou's path toward victory? Or will they be cursed with defeat?

Great Box Set

by -

If you purchased the limited edition of Fate/Zero, then you'll will enjoy this one. The box is made really well just like the Fate/Zero box set, but this one is a couple of centimeters wider (front to back) and it's white like the Fate/Zero box set. This one has 3 cases; Blu-ray Discs (1-2)(3-4), and the Soundtrack, and the collectible card and 24pg booklet. This box set is worth collecting.

Amazing release!

I've been collecting aniplex titles for a while now and this is without a doubt one of the best releases in recent memory they have had.

I've been very dissapointed with the lack of decent rigid art boxes with their releases, notably Kill La Kill and Monogatari Second Season. This release though is right in line with the Japanese release which is a first for Aniplex's stateside releases.

The box that houses this is a little more than 3 normal BluRay jewel cases wide and is very rigid and thick, doesn't bend easy but similar in feel to the monogatari second season releases. The box is roughly 20% wider than the U.S. Fate/Zero release. It is truly hard to do the quality justice with a picture.

All in all this is worth every penny and is one of the best looking US released box sets I own. I can only hope they put this much effort with future releases.

Money Well Spent

by -

The quality of the artbox was a big deal breaker for me. While I prefer the look and feel of the Fate/Zero boxes this definitely has a similar level of quality. Aniplex's recent choice of singles over boxes frustrated me but I'm happy to say that they haven't lost their edge at all when it comes to putting out quality releases.

Besides the obvious pluses of the visuals when you get the Blu-rays, the addition of the soundtrack as well made the price feel a little more warranted.

If you are a big enough Fate fan to get past the price tag and be willing to fork over the money, you'll be getting one of the most mind blowing visual experiences. Blu-ray is the way to go for Fate, at least if you want more "bang for your buck."

Good Box set... just pricey

by -

This is a nice box set but not worth Aniplex's asking price. As a Fan of Type-Moon its either Aniplex or the highway.. Kudos to rightstuf for having the best price on this box set.. thumbs down to Aniplex for charging an arm and a leg for something that should sell at the $60 price point.

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Limited Edition Blu-ray Box Set 1

by

Love this series as much as Fate/Zero but darn if I'm gonna give aniplex $180. I "ahem" imported a version from another country (not japan) that cost me about $90 and it's every bit as nice. Only kicker is that you need a multi region capable bluray to watch it.

Pure eye candy

by

I admit, I love Aniplex and most of the shows they release. Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works is no exception as this is a must buy for just about any anime fans. You get great animation, great story and great fight scenes. Plus it's Aniplex so you know it's going to be a high quality release. Some people might complain about the cost but when you compare their releases to that of Funimation or Sentai, Aniplex is simply the heavyweight champion. That's because Aniplex puts only 4 or less episodes per dual layer blu ray disc. Funimation and Sentai will put 9 - 13 episodes per dual layer blu ray disc and it simply can't compete. For casual fans, this isn't a big deal but for those of us willing to shell out the money, this release is pure eye candy. If you have the money, this is a no brainer as it's a must buy.

Amazing Set and Show!

by

The show:

This show is fantastic. If you haven't watched this and Zero yet, you should do so as soon as possible! You will not regret it!

The release:

As others have mentioned, this set is a big upgrade from the fate zero sets, let alone aniplex's standard releases these days. Definitely pick these up before they go OOP. (probably within the year!)

Amazing show, Excellent Set

by -

This show is one of my favorites. I am a huge fan of the original Fate/stay night series, and Unlimited Blade Works, in my opinion, is a much more interesting story line.

This set is great. The box that everything comes in is high quality with amazing artwork. The booklet that is included is an interesting read (several interviews from the producer and director) with some nice artwork and animation frames. The soundtrack is incredible; aside from the show itself, this is the best part of the set.

If you can afford the price, this is a must buy for any fan of the show.

Over-priced anime classic based on older classic heroic myths

by -

FSN -- What shall I say about this series? If you DIDN'T like the characters, you wouldn't be still here, would you?

The series I've seen in whole -- or part -- have all become linchpins of modern anime.

Fate is probably the most successful visual novel anime franchise from Type Moon.

I blame it all on the King Arthur mythos -- most of us who have ever seen one of the million cinematic spin-offs of the Arthur legends (John Boorman's "Excalibur," the million British TV series based on King Arthur, or even something I consider lame like Disney's "The Sword in the Stone") will know what I'm talking about.

It's a quintessential heroic myth. You get it or you don't...

NOW, what I DON'T like about the US releases of Fate.

a) They're WAY over-priced for the length of the series; and b) What IS available doesn't come out fast enough in the States, either!

Other than that, these are decently nice releases... But I would definitely NOT buy the series unless it's on sale!

Lacking 5.1 Audio

by

Great anime, my absolute favorite in fact. The only issue I had here is that it is not 5.1 surround sound. For the price you would expect it to be, but it is not. Great picture, flawless animation, just wish the sound was up to par.

Beautiful, but a bit overpriced.

by -

This IS a very nice box set. The bluray looks absolutely gorgeous and the chipboard is very sleek looking with a glossy finish. The soundtrack is also a nice addition.

Unfortunately, Aniplex misses in some ways that make the set feel overpriced. The included booklet is just pages stapled together and there aren't any other items included to appease a collector. It feels like they could've added the DVDs. The TCG card isn't really as satisfying as a poster or sturdier and more robust art book would have been. They nailed the presentation but skimped on the goods. Side note: The Kill la Kill limited edition nailed all the things I'm harping on here, but came in disappointing paper stock boxes and an unnecessary amount of volumes.

Despite this, I am okay with this purchase. What is presented (minus the flimsy booklet) is high quality and beautiful. The chipboard is among the favorites of the ones I own. I wish Aniplex would try to present a more complete and consistent package.

Quality work worth every penny

Absolutely love this!!! It is on the pricy end but well worth it if you’re a fan of the series. The story slightly differs from the one on Netflix and the box art is just amazing. The soundtrack is pretty awesome. For the work that was put into it it’s worth every penny
