About FLIP FLAPPERS! Blu-ray

Flip Flappers! contains episodes 1-13.

As a middle school student, Cocona has been trying to decide what to do with her life. Magical Girl, however, wasn't a career path that she'd ever considered. When suddenly a strange girl named Papika thrusts her into a secret organization called Flip Flap, Cocona's outlook does a radical flip-flop. Her views start to change when she is dragged into an alternate dimension called Pure Illusion where she's charged with gathering crystal shards and fighting strange creatures.

Now, between running missions and facing off against a rival organization, Cocona doesn't have much time to consider alternate career choices. What are these shards, and why is gathering them so important? There's a mystery to be solved and multiple worlds to be saved!

Get ready to enjoy some fun and brightly-colored nonsense!

Flip Flappers is a highly energetic romp in which two girls adventure through a number of very strange, highly imaginative worlds. One could say it looks and acts mostly like Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi but with a little added dash of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

From an audiovisual perspective, Flip Flappers is a masterpiece effort, sporting brilliant setting design, frenetic action animation, good BGM tunes, and impeccable sound direction and effects. The story itself is less impressive, serving primarily as an excuse to play out its collection of cool, standalone adventures, which also serve as shout-outs to a wide variety of genres. While initially severely underdeveloped and therefore confusing, the story manages to become coherent in the second half. The characters of Flip Flappers are similarly underdeveloped but still coherent and likable. And anyways, Flip Flappers is all about having fun and witnessing the spectacle!

Oh, and the ending theme is priceless. Flip Flap!
