An incredible collection of thirty years worth of illustrations!

Viz has done a fantastic service to western fans of Toriyama by bringing this book over--not only is it a wonderful guide to the legendary Dragon Quest series, but it is also a stage-by-stage history of the styles Toriyama's art has passed through over his long career.

Everything from prototype monster sketches, concept art of heroes, and even box art is included here in wonderfully crisp detail! The appendices in the back of the book give a glimpse behind the scenes of each main line game's development process, and the closing congratulations message by Yuji Horii is incredibly heart warming to read. The one flaw in this book is that certain game titles are written in romanji due to not being officially localized by square enix as of the first printing: an annoying but understandable issue.

If you are a fan of one of the greatest manga-ka of all time and want to see his whimsical style out in full force, do yourself a favor and get this gem!
