About Death Parade Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD

Death Parade contains episodes 1-12 plus the OVA.

When two people die at the same time, they're sent to a place that's neither heaven nor hell: a lavish bar between worlds where the stakes are high and the rules are simple: if you win you live again, if you die you're gone for good.

Decim is the bartender charged with serving the souls who enter Quindecim. He may make a mean cocktail, but his true profession is to play the role of arbiter: a judge who determines whether or not a soul is worthy of reincarnation.

To aid in his judgment, the bar's patrons are forced to play simple games laced with sadistic twists designed to bring their true natures to light. To Decim, judgment has always been black and white -- that is until he meets a mysterious young woman whose fate seems impossible to decide. His indecision shakes the very foundation of the games and raises the biggest question of all: who is fit to judge the dead?

Awesome show

by -

I got interested in this show because of the opening and thought it would be cool to watch so I bought this set. Its sized like a regular LE but the outer case a door! it comes apart in two pieces from the middle. It has a cool digipack with some of the characters displayed on one side, the other has the discs along with some great artwork. The show itself was fantastic. Almost every episode is an emotional journey where you feel for every one of the people who are going to be judged, I teared up on occasion. though this set just has art cards its still great and I would recommend it.

Great box set, extras, and art.

The little folder that holds the discs have beat art and the dub for the series is actually good compared to most other anime dubs.i also like how this box set is like an elevator that comes out in the anime. It actually slides open like an elastase which is a very nice creative touch to from funimation. It also comes with episodes like Death Billiards and another OVA episode and it also has episode commentaries.

Good show, decent quality release

The show itself is 5 stars, but the release is more lackluster than it appears. The art cards are of "eh" quality, it seems that Funimation aren't making physical extras like they used to. Also, the discs and the cases were smudged and marked on, making it not look in new condition.

It's not Rightstuf's fault since they are just a distributor, Funimation just needs to step up their game. The box set opens up like elevator doors, which is cool.

Love it!

I will say this is a very nice release, different from the normal FUNi LE's as it opens in the middle like the doors in the show, the case for the DVDs opens like their old DBZ DVDs, and the back of that has a cool picture of everyone.
The art cards are also nice, I wasn't really expecting those but I never pay attention to extra's very well so I tend to be surprised if there are LOL.
As of right now I haven't gotten the chance to watch it after receiving the set but plan to this weekend, so I can't really say about the sound quality, though I'm sure its as good as all my other FUNi shows.
My only sadness is how the price of the LE's seems to have gone up, so soon after I discovered them and how nice they look, of course, but, after watching this on FUNi's site I had decided I would get the LE for it no matter what because I loved it so much.
There is just something special about shows (when done right and well) that make you really think.

Great buy

The main reason I got this box set was for the extras and the presentation. The art cards are great, there are so many and a good size. I am definitely all for digi packs for box sets, too. They allow for more and bigger art to be represented rather than with amaray packaging. The box is nicely constructed and fits together perfecly. The design is perfect.

Quality show, and the box set is beautiful! :)

A great show! I discovered it on the funimation streaming service where I watch most of my anime, and I fell in love at the first episode. The character development is fantastic and is very dark. After finishing the final episode I immediately went here and purchased the Limited edition box set because it wasn't much more than the standard. The chipboard box is really nice and the way it opens like an elevator is awesome. The art cards are a nice addition, and the fold out where the Blu rays/dvds is amazing. I love the artwork with all the characters on the back of it.

I recommend this for anyone who wants to buy this amazing show!

A Unique Take on the Afterlife

by -

I remember when this show first aired; the concept of the deceased playing games against each other in a bar sparked my curiosity. And I'm glad I gave this show a shot. It's become of my favorites. The animation is beautiful and each mini narrative for each episode really pulled at your heartstrings. The limited box is beautiful. I love how it opens up in the middle to resemble the elevators in the show. The discs contain some sweet special features including the OVA, Death Billiards, that greenlit the series. Be sure to check this awesome series out!

A Shining Example of Psychological Suspense

Death Parade is a fantastic series about a girl with amnesia who works a mysterious bartender named Decim together they review cases of people who are...troubled. The series wonderful I only wish there was a season 2 a manga a light novel something to accompany the anime because we dont get enough insight into all of the characters we meet and at the end we say but who was that how did they get there the limited edition is great but too pricey for what is offered 30 or 40 seems like a fair price but for close 90 we should be getting more than a few goofy cast shorts some postcards and a nice box. If you can get this series for around 40 definitely do so its amazing and worth a watch multiple times delivery was pleasantly early with no damage

My new favorite!

Just finished watching Death Parade after I received my LE copy from rightstuf and I can't express my love for this series enough!

First of all the packaging is awesome! I love the way the box set opens as if the elevator doors are opening up. It comes with very nice art cards as well!

The anime itself is utterly fantastic! The story gripped me from the VERY first episode and the music, characters, and art style are all incredible! Seriously!

I breezed through this series so fast because I literally couldn't stop. I'd love for them to make a second season but I'm completely content with what I got. I know I'll watch this series over and over again!

It's seriously a masterpiece!!!

A wonderful anime

I absolutely love this anime. Everything about it from the style, to the characters, to the premise of the story. It is a must watch for anime fans that like a little bit of horror and gore, and this collection is so cool! Love the elevator door style to the box and all the little extras that come with it! A great buy!

A Rollercoaster of Emotions Wrapped Up in an Elevator

Death Parade was one of the few anime I have ever binged watched. I watched episodes 1 and 2 on a Saturday night and watch the rest the next day. The opening and ending songs were fantastic and the characters in the story were great. There were so many powerful scenes that I almost cried.
In terms of the limited edition, I like what Funimation went for. The outer is the elevator from the show and opening it reveals a digipack showing the characters in the back. Not a bad limited edition.
I highly recommend this show. Expect a ton of tearjerking scenes.
