FINALLY

by -

Thank you viz media for putting out one of the greatest series of all time on blu ray!

Fantastic

by -

One of the greatest if not the greatest show now on blu ray = instant purchase! Thank you viz been waiting patiently for years to get this on blu ray.

OMG It's about time!

by -

EEEee! I am so excited to see one of my favorite series EVER is finally coming to BluRay- and at a decent price even for the limited Omega edition! Now I just have to wait until March.. the hardship! THANK YOU VIZ! Now if only Viz would release the full series of English-audio Monster in a nice limited edition blu-ray.. or at least on DVD (HINT HINT). At least I have the Aussie DVDs of Monster.

Finally the death note collection is coming to blu ray.

by

Finally the death note is in one complete collection and even includes 2 OVA's. This is a steal for anyone that is looking to get their hands on the complete collection of death note. I will definitely be picking this up in March when it comes out. Most anime collections nowadays make you pay about $100 for 12 episodes but for half of the price, you get more than double that with 37 episodes.

The Death Note Collection You've All Been Waiting For

by

This exceeded my expectations. This Blu-ray rendition brings a lot of light to scenes that were too dark & too pixelated on their standard DVD format. Moving along you have the great quality of the chipboard box. You don't see to many chipboard boxes that are metallic so this was added icing on the cake. The box holds both the artbook & series+ova's perfectly. For some added fun the conditions & rules are written upon the box which was a brilliant addition. Now diving further in we have the artbook. The quality is superb. The pages feel clean & smooth to the touch & the art practically pops off the pages. Even the cover looks like the Death Note. Lastly we have the series+ova's. Their both housed in a very rigid blu-ray case. The series is split up among 5 disc with the ova's combined onto 1 disc. Upon removal of disc 1 of the series an removal of the ova's disc it reveals Misa Amane in her signature black dress. For any fan I strongly encourage you to pick up this master piece.

Overall a very solid release

by

The show is great and a staple of the time period during which it came out. My main criticism of the show content wise is that it can be a bit tedious and boring at times but overall delivers and is wll worth getting through it.

The BDs look great, the box is nice and the booklet amusing. Especially considering the price, you really can't go wrong with this one.

Definative edition to get

by

Not going to rehash the plot as it is a classic. Just be aware this has both movies(the animated ones not the live action), a metal clipboard, art book. Picture is an upgrade from the DVD but still far from perfect. I am actually a fan of this dub even though I usually prefer subs. Considering all this package entails and the amount of episodes and the movies you can't go wrong.

Great picture

by

I was a little iffy (the studio that did the up-conversion for this also did Sailor Moon), but not to worry because the picture quality is AMAZING! The audio is also good. Definitely worth upgrading your DVDs.

AT LAST IT'S HERE!!! :")

by

Ever since I watched Death Note the first time I always hope they'd release it in Blu Ray format. So when this set was announced I was ecstatic to say the least. This set is amazing, the art book is awesome, and the story is the highlight of it all of course. If you haven't watched Death Note yet, I highly recommend picking this up. You won't regret it...definitely top 5 anime of all time IMO. :)

Another great release by Viz!

by

The same Death Note you know and love but remastered into glorious HD. Viz did a good job with the upscale to this release very similar to their Ranma 1/2 sets. The set comes housed in a cardboard slipcase with different art than the BD cover art which is nice.

If you haven't watched the series, this is a staple title for your collection and a reasonable price for 37 episodes. Definitely work the pick up!

One of the Best Blu-Ray Collector Sets for 2016

by

As a fan of collector editions, I can say this is probably one of the best I have seen/owned for an older series.

First of all, it's exceptionally beautiful: it's made out of chipboard and has an irredescent shine that looks natural on any shelf. Secondly, I would like to emphasize how compact this set is, considering that most sets take up more than 2 inches of width thickness.

Other than the shell, the discs are labeled perfectly, and the manga that comes with the set is made of high-grade paper that's meant to last.

I can't also complain about the price. The price is wonderful considering it also comes with two live-action movies and loads of extra hour content (interviews, audio commentary and art). In addition, for fans worried about the dub and sub, it comes with both as well as Spanish, French and even Portuguese.

I would say this is great as a present, personal collection, or a portable series for anime clubs or conventions.

Solid, if a tad overrated

by

Death Note is an interesting little gem in anime history. While there is no need to go to deep into it, Death Note takes a novel concept and runs with it, as main character Light Yagami comes into possession of a magical journal that kills anyone whose name is written in it. This series succeeds in its unique concept and it's portrayal of the main character whereby as a viewer you have to decide whether or not Light is a protagonist or antagonist. Is L the true hero, or is Light? As it progresses, it becomes something of a schlocky B-grade experience, but it is definitely a must watch classic nonetheless. Stellar A/V quality on this set combined with a beautiful package and a bevy of extras make this purchase recommendation a no-brainer.

High Quality Collection

by

The anime itself is a very solid anime that still holds up to this day. Unfortunately I do not remember the quality of the animation itself when it first came out, so I can't really make a comparison of it to this new blu-ray release, however I must say that it is very nice especially when you consider how old this anime is. You also notice a very nice and rich sound quality at least when you pop in a disk and the main menu comes up. As for the episodes' quality themselves, I haven't really been watching it as a critic per say, as I'm watching this for pleasure and enjoyment but what I can say is that I have no complaints about this product whatsoever; the quality is great, the price is reasonable, and the anime itself is amazing. I see no reason to pass this up, I would definitely recommend to my friends.

Death Note

by -

You can finally watch Death Note in HD! It comes with the entire series, two compilation films, and two live action movies. Definitely a product for any Death Note fans.

If you'd like a psychologically thrilling anime, this is something to check out.

Death Note in a pretty decent upscale that's better than the DVDs.

by -

I must say VIZ did an alright job with the upscale on this anime into HD from what I can tell. There may be minor smearing but overall the detail is better, although unfortunately encode wise there is some noticeable compression. Still an upgrade of the DVDs. The artbook isn't an artbook but actually the pilot manga for Death Note. I must say I'm glad when Death Note Launched it took the different way and route it did instead of this, the pilot definitely comes off more as a pitch idea, and the changes in the final product are much better in the story in my opinion. Definitely worth upgrading and buying this set.

An Excellent Buy

by -

I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting this show and very happy to not only have this series in a lovely, slim collection, but also both OVAs and the one-shot manga (one of the first manga I ever read). If I wanted to be picky, I'd ask why I didn't get the live action movies, but this is an anime collection. While I generally prefer manga to anime, this adaption did an excellent job of improving with each arc and I really appreciate that. Overall, this is a wonderful purchase and worth the extra money for the Omega Edition.

Spot On

by -

An absolutely fantastic show and an excellent edition. The problem with most good shows that aren't brand new is that they get stuck on DVD only. Not this one. I'll be glad to have this around for years to come.

Just pure awesome

by -

It arrived on time and in excellent condition. The case Is awesome and perfect to fit on my shelf. And as for the show itself its just like I remember watching.
