Dark Fantasy with Humor and a good plot

DGM, is a wonderful series. I haven't been this excited for a long shonen series in a while, but my friend told me about this and I took a risk and bought it. I didn't regret buying it without renting it before hand. I find this way better then DBZ, One Piece, Fairy Tail, FMA, and Soul Eater. Only shonen series that beats DGM for me is YYH, but that's because I grew to love that series.

This series is a dark fantasy series, with humor put into it, but the horror part of the anime isn't drawn with a lot of blood and gore. (I'm not a fan of a lot of gore and blood, as there it's pointless element.) The characters are wonderful (My all time favorite is Lavi) and the story builds up to something big, also it follows the manga pretty well. Yes, the starting episodes are a bit slow, but it's explaining a lot of important details for the series.

On a note, don't hate the series for a small detail, like the fact Allen doesn't have an English accent even though he's British. Todd does a nice job voicing Allen. The cast just does a wonderful job all over for this series.

yo-yo plot

This series has some great artwork to it. Any graphic artist would be quite happy with that. As for a plot, the series couldn't make up its mind how seriously to take itself. One second it goes comic and the next it goes all macho serious. It ends up with lack of a coherent story line, weak character development, and super immune characters so you know there was no 'real' threat. Hence, battles became tedious rather than intriguing and entertaining. That said, it still had enough of a story line to lightly amuse which is why I said Okay.

Decent anime

by -

I watched season 1 and it was pretty good. I ended getting the rest of the series but season 1 didn’t impress me enough to go ahead and watch it in its entirety so I haven’t watched the rest yet. Characters are pretty good, animation isn’t the best would say it’s ok. I’m not a big fan of “magic” anime so it’s not really my thing first off but that being said if you enjoy those types of animes it’s probably really good.
