About A Certain Magical Index Season 1 Blu-ray/DVD

A Certain Magical Index Season 1 complete collection contains episodes 1-24 of the anime directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori.

Kamijo is a student in Academy City, where people use science to develop supernatural abilities. The guy's got a lot of heart - luckily for a young nun named Index. She's on the run from a sorcery society that covets the astonishing 103,000 volumes of magical knowledge stored in her memory.

When Index stumbles into Kamijo's life, she finds a faithful friend and protector, and while Kamijo's easily the weakest kid in Academy City, he's got something else going for him: the Imagine Breaker, an unexplainable power stored in his right hand that negates the powers of others. With scientists and sorcerers attacking from all sides, the Imagine Breaker will definitely come in handy - but it's Kamijo's loyalty to Index that will be his greatest weapon in the fight to keep her safe.

WHAT! You Have Not Watched It?!

One of the Must SEE Shows.

It's Worth The Purchase

For those who have seen this show:
Ask yourself, is $50 out of your pocket worth ownership of all of season 1? I say yes, but you may not have liked it as much as I did. 24 episodes for $50 is a good deal considering some 12 episode series go for the same price.

For those who haven't seen this show:
I love the world this show is based in, not the show itself. I'm sure you can find a brief description of the show. Alternately you can stream it legally on funimation's official website. After that choose if this show is worth the buy, I say yes.

A show that takes a small effort to get through, but WORTH IT

by -

This show/franchise somehow flew under my radar as an anime fan for years, but I happened upon it on YouTube on Funimation's channel this summer. Index is a sci-fi/fantasy show that centers around the unique idea of science/magic, logic/faith, secularism/religiousity butting heads as both sides strive for the world's truths. As it so happens, our main characters just happened to get caught in the middle of all of this. Academy City and the world around it is a unique setting you will not find in any other anime out there to date.

Additionally, while the main male protagonist, Touma, can be a bit dry and shallow at times, he does get better with time, as does the other main female lead besides Index herself. That's why I say this show may not captivate you in the first 3 or so episodes, but if you're willing to watch it through I can say from experience that it is absolutely worth it. I have bought this series multiple times for friends since watching it myself.

One of the best anime ever. If you're looking for an anime worth your time and money, this is the one. Animations and fight scenes are very smooth and cool.Story makes you want more when it ends. All in all, it's a great anime.Season 3 just came out, so time to buy and binge watch.

i really like the series

by -

i recommended picking it up its a very fine anime that's got the basic stats on it. its got its good humor and some pretty awesome battle scenes. for what it does it does great. i love the main character and the people around him. who could guess bad luck can be so nice?. i don't really have anything bad to say about the show. but why am i rating it 4 then?

my problem happened when it arrived i got real exited so i opened to see the inside of the case and 2 blue parts that hold the disk feel out. its nothing to really sulk about it still holds the disk but being my first order it was definitely not what i was expecting. but its the only time its happened since i started using the site. its most likely just shipping not taking care of of the package sadly.

The most anime anime there ever was.

by -

This anime is equal parts ridiculous as it is cool. Just really over the top technobabble and some cringe-worthy edginess mixed with some cute slice-of-life moments make it all really entertaining to watch. There is a good mix of action and down time so it never becomes dull. The concepts used for the scientific and magical powers are always an interesting thing to think about and wrap your mind around. I'd say this is the most anime anime there ever was!

-All 24 episodes of season 1 (that is a lot of episodes for 1 season!) on both DVD and Blu-Ray

-Some episodes have commentary from the English voice actors, which is nice

-The case has reversible artwork

Equal parts brilliant and infuriating

Index is an exercise in dichotomy; equal parts brilliant and infuriating. In spite of its ambitious and wildly creative premise and a cavalcade of memorable characters, I struggled to get through the first season.

Cons: the Stalker Lesbian, the harem "high jinks," female-on-male abuse played as "comedy" and infantilized selfishness (Seriously made me despise the titular Index), overblown explanations and endless group names that lost all meaning.

Pros: The psychic/magic system and boundaries, the vivid and memorable character designs, the sheer creativity in power usage, Toma's journey (particularly after his memory erasure), and even if there are far too many--some of the organizations' names are really cool (Scavenger, Anti-Skill, Cult of Science, Judgment). The sound design and animation can be brilliant as well.

Ultimately won me over and became a recommended franchise.
