Great deal on a classic series...

The 1990s were literally the decade of Megumi Hayashibara.
Nuku Nuku is a different role for the feisty VA who is generally known for playing tomboys and tough women. Nuku is feminine, a bit ditzy, and hung over from the last time she had catnip!
Nuku2 isn't about character growth so much as it is about mayhem and the craziness that follows a mad scientist and son who are just trying to have a regular life apart from the distant workaholic mother intent on world domination -- for some reason! And that's the basic plotline of the series.
If you have the old ADV DVDs, the BD is a questionable upgrade. I did not see improvement in video quality. If you're interested in the OVAs (the original series) at least, this is an economical buy to get ALL of Nuku2 on 1 disc (instead of 7 DVDs) and STILL get the best series of the franchise. 1 new bonus is an alternate dub of the original OVA series.
The OAV is funny, then TV is alright, then goes downhill with DASH!
The 6-part OAV is very funny and the only part of the franchise I own via old Bandai. 4-stars.
The TV series while also funny, with new characters added via the high school comedy banter, somehow fell short of expectation after viewing the original OAV series. I rented this series back in the day, and that was it for me. 3-stars.
Dash is horrible! Clearly made to milk the series one last time for whatever it was worth. Dash is so bad, it copies the magical girl sequence from another terrible anime, "Moldiver." 1-star.
Eastern Star selling older anime series in SD-BD format is questionable. Basically, you're buying such shows still in 'Standard Definition" or still in 480p basic DVD format. Entire series is placed on a single Blu-ray disc to take advantage of superior storage capacity instead of superior HD 1080p video quality. I'd ask Eastern Star to offer a regular DVD set at half the price if the video quality remains the same 480p format.
