Captain Harlock Arcadia of My Youth Blu-Ray
About Captain Harlock Arcadia of My Youth Blu-Ray
Returning to Earth from the front lines of an interstellar war, Captain Harlock finds that his home is no longer what he once knew. The Illumidus Empire, aliens from another world, have occupied the planet and oppressed its people. The sole hope that remains for the downtrodden Earthmen is a lone voice known to most only as “The Rose,” yet is known much more intimately to Harlock as his former lover, Maya. While Maya urges her fellow humans to hold onto their belief in a better tomorrow, Harlock cannot wait for such a day to come. By chance he meets a man named Tochiro Oyama, whom despite having never met before, Harlock feels a sense of brotherhood with. Together with Maya’s voice and others who share their beliefs, Harlock and Tochiro seek to cast off the shackles of the Illumidus.

AT THE END OF THE JOURNEY, ALL MEN THINK THEIR YOUTH WAS ARCADIA
by ARTHUR
Discotek has done it again, not the only have they licensed another great Anime classic and given it a Blu-ray release, uncut and unedited for a total run time of 2 hours and 10 minutes and with two language tracks, Japanese with English Subtitles and the "Vintage "Vengeance of the Space Pirate" English Dub" which is the English dub that was used for the film when it was released in the US. Other features included are two trailers, , production Art Gallery and a commentary track by Mike Toole, which is definitely worth listening to. Overall, this film is definitely worth checking out especially if you are fan of Leiji Matsumoto's works or Captain Harlock.
I live in freedom under this flag!

This title is another great classic and it has been given a wonderful bluray release. Much of the sound is still in 'mono' but compared to my much older copies the sound has definitely been greatly 'cleaned up' of annoying pops, hisses and crackles (some are still there but very few). The colors on the old hand drawn animation are vibrant, rich and in turns both warm and cool. The story is still compelling and the extras are full of great tidbits of trivia. Highly recommended to those who are Harlock, Leiji Matsumoto and classic anime fans!
A Vast Disappointment Of A Movie On An Awesome Blu-Ray
by MoebiusX7 -
I remember seeing the trailer for this movie on an old Animeigo DVD back in the day and thinking how awesome it was. Space battles! Captain Harlock (I loved him in Galaxy Express 999)! Dvorak! I couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately by then the DVD was out of print. Well, after getting it on Blu-Ray I was severely disappointed. This film is nothing but 2+ hours of people crying and making speeches but not actually doing anything. The heroes are ineffectual and the villains are unmemorable. Even the ending space battle is a letdown. The Blu-Ray itself is nice though. Picture and sound are great. Dicotek put a lot of care into this so if you like the movie pick it up.
