About Burn the Witch Manga Volume 1

Burn the Witch manga volume 1 features story and art by Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, and is presented in a slipcased paperback edition.

Behind the world you think you know lies a land of magic and fairy tales—but Reverse London isn’t the pretty picture that’s painted in children’s books. Fairy tales have teeth, and the dedicated agents of Wing Bind are the only thing standing between you and the real story.

Ninny Spangcole and Noel Niihashi are Wing Bind agents, and they aren’t serving out of the goodness of their hearts—they want achievement points and cold, hard credits in their bank accounts. But instead of getting a prime assignment with lots of gold and glory, they get stuck on babysitting duty. Before they can grow comfortable with boredom, Ninny and Noel find themselves on the run with a fugitive who’s like catnip for dragons. Can they manage to pull off a happy ending or has their story just been cursed?

Awesome Manga

by -

Great manga in the Bleach universe with great art by the GOAT Kubo. It's a pretty quick read and absolutely worth it. However, maybe it's just me but my slipcase fell apart out of nowhere and I had to reglue it myself. Other than that its a regular Viz volume.

Very stylistic.

by -

Same as Atticus. My slip case immediately fell apart. But nothing super glue can't fix. Kubo's art is always my favorite. Gives that post Arrancar Arc style vibe. Story is ok. It's totally different from Bleach. Far as world building. So don't get why it has to be in similar world, other than for profit. Instead of hollows there's dragons, and the dragons are interesting concept and have cool designs. Hopefully he releases more in his spare time.

More Great Stories from Tite Kubo Please

by -

The story is simple and fun. Witches working with dragons to keep violent dragons from causing harm to civilians. I look forward to more content going forward. The quality of the book is fine. A standard viz manga volume with a neat cardboard slip cover. Maybe Viz should use another type of glue next for future release. My slip cover was undone after opening the shrink wrap.

Love the art style

by -

Interesting read. I have no experience reading bleach or did not even know this was created by the author of bleach until I looked him up afterwards. I loved the art style and I hope to see more of these released. Characters were charming and I love the dragon aspect. I was a little confused in some parts of this volume so I might try to read it again in the future. Good read if you have time!

Tite Kubo's return to jump

by -

Burn the witch Vol. 1 is a really good start for a shonen series from a veteran author. Though it says volume 1 no more chapters have released since, but I assure you that this is still worth the read.

For starters the overall volume is really nice and have a slip cover that I enjoy but really dont see me using on myshelf due to room. The volume is really nice and overall quality is what you should expect from Viz.

Second of all the series is off to a good start and this volume acts as the first art and is really enjoyable stand alone. We have been told to expect more of this series in the future, but nothing more than that. It really feels like a side story from bleach, but keeps alot of the flair bleach had in its early days. I'd reccomend anyone to give this volume a shot. Especially because it by itself makes for a great one volume series at the moment.

Must have for Bleach fans, and a perfect starting point for newcomers!

by -

Tite Kubo, best known for the infamous Bleach, has given us this little spin off Burn the Witch. We gat a little snap shot of our cute main girl witches (waifus) of reverse London, Noel and Ninny doing the odd job for Wing Bind Org. While also on babysitting duty to our trouble magnet boy Balgo. Let's just say they get themselves in deep. As for the story, I loved it! I originally read the chapters digitally and knew once it was in print I had to own it. The action, the comedy, the lore, and the characters were all great. This is a must have for any collector of Bleach and if your unfamiliar with the series, this is a perfect jumping in point . The art is gorgeous, as to be expected from Mr. Kubo. I really hope we get a continuation of this series, I cant wait to see what our girls get into next.

Amazing addition to an Amazing universe

by -

This new addition to the Bleach universe started with a bang and I am very excited for it to continue in the future. The Ashton of what is basically a new soul society but in Europe was an interesting twist on the Bleach formula. The main characters and most of not all the side characters are enthralling and are sliding boards for future character development. The presentation of the volume is amazing and the slip case is a really nice touch that I hope to see more of in the future.

The Story is Good but…

by

To start the actual story is actually really good, the characters didn’t feel one dimensional and were fun to learn about and the setting is probably the best as it looked the most visually appealing. The only real problem was with the slipcover as that came apart a couple days after my order came so that was kinda disappointing.

Witches mean bussiness

Amazing read, fun characters, kubo knows how to make the drippiest black and white characters and will not disappoint here, book was in great quality when received, no complaints here.

Tite Kubo the goat

by

Kubos art and world building is amazing. Burn the Witch is set in the same world as Bleach, but in london. Who doesn't like Dragons and magic? Slip cover is not great quality and it doesn't justify the price being double that of a normal volume. Im hoping the future volumes don't have slip covers and are regular priced.

Cant wait for volume 2! Beautiful copy aside the adhesive issues.

by

Yea so i read the other reviews and glad to see im not the only one whose slipcase fell apart lol. Its a nice slip case but whatever adhesive they used mustve been the cheapest of the cheaps! The inner cover is really nice the the poster is decent quality but small. The story takes place in the bleach universe. Tite kubo is a beast in character designs. He always killed it w bleach designs and covers/posters. Burn the witch is no different.

More of an ember than a real fire

by -

Very stylistic in appearance, but scattered narratively. Kubo's art style is easy to watch, very cinematic, so it makes the stories dynamic to read. But the story here is a lot of odd things thrown at the reader with no real rhyme or reason in between all the action. It's interesting, but doesn't add up to much yet. In Bleach, Kubo pulled off starting his story in the middle and building outwards, but it was also his 1st full and finished series and that showed. This is hyped as part of the larger Bleach universe but it's anyone's guess how with just this vol 1 to go on. If you're up for a wild ride, this is it, but who knows where we'll end up.

Great series for Bleach fans

by -

I loved this book, Ill be honest I watched all of bleach and never tried the manga until recently. I loved this new take on the Bleach formula and universe and I like MC's dynamic and I think this is a fun series and I love Kubo's artstyle. I am looking for forward to (and hoping) for more in this series.

Gotta give it a chance if you liked BLEACH.

by -

This got me super excited for the return of bleach. I LOVE the concept of this being a branch of soul society that operates with other mythical things instead of just ghosts/hollows. Plus the main characters are sexy chicks instead of ichigo.

Definitely give this a chance if you liked bleach. It feels like a lot of setup for only being 1 volume, but that’s because I think Kubo Tite is going to be developing this further but working on this as he pleases instead of having strict deadlines.

Kubo Tite's Fast Paced Start!

by -

A surprising addition into the world of Tite Kubo, comes "Burn The Witch" volume 1 that immediately introduces you into a thriving world. While many answers aren't provided out the gate, it implies more questions than answers to keep you interested in the series. Wonderful art, and memorable scenes are expected like any other Tite Kubo series. Very excited to see the full English release of this be complete, and wonderful to see the 'shared universe' TK is making!

Great Manga, Disappointing Release

by -

I don't really have any problems with the contents of the book. Fantastic artwork and character designs, as always. The story is also really interesting, and hopefully Kubo will be able to develop and expand on things at his own pace in the future.

However, the actual release of the volume. When pre-orders first started, and the MSRP was revealed to be $20, I assumed the best. "Wow, that's more expensive than a volume of Tokyo Ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul is taller than the average VIZ volume, has higher quality paper, and a few color pages. I can't imagine how good the Burn the Witch release will be."

How naive I was.

Sure, thanks to the lovely people at Right Stuf I didn't even pay the full $20 for my copy. But all the same, I am very confused by the fact that a, frankly shoddy, cardboard slip case somehow jacks the price up by $10.

go plaid

by

I'd like to start off by saying I found this book to be funny. I'm just a little confused. I was trying to figure out if this is a British division of the Bleach soul society. I do like the fact that the setting in London. I think it's cool that reverse London has so many dragon and dragon themed creators.
