About Buddha Manga Volume 7

Buddha Volume 7: Prince Ajatasattu features story and art by Osamu Tezuka.

Prince Ajatasattu, the headstrong young prince, must reconcile with a prediction that he will murder his own father. He plans instead the assassination of the Buddha, blaming him for making his father believe this "bogus" prediction.

Meanwhile, the Buddha's closest disciple, Devadatta, sees a great political opportunity to step the Buddha up in politics while the king and the prince are at odds. He confronts the Buddha with his plan, but Devadatta's opportunism leads to his excommunication from the Buddhist community.

Throughout the backstabbing and assassination attempts, the Buddha remains steadfast in his mission to spread the message of the sanctity of life and love.

This manga never lets up in quality

by -

Buddha is the greatest manga i've ever read. I expected the story to dip at some point, but it hasn't fallen off one bit. In regards to story, it is 5 stars.

Physically:
The only truly negative thing is the fact that the images are all mirrored to be read as books are in english. I hate this, since it changes the artwork, and makes some of his more experimental panel layouts difficult to read. This is what knocks a star off.
To note, but not dock points:
The beginning of this volume is labeled as a "continuation" of part 5 (volumes 3 and 4 are part 3), but volume 6 is very thin, and could have certainty used the 2 chapters it gave away to volume 7. This is likely just how it was formatted in the japanese release, and they are being loyal to it, which is why it doesn't dock points. I wish the thickness of the books was more evenly distributed though.
