The Journey of Siddhartha Begins

by -

From the godfather of manga, Osamu Tezuka, the continuing story of Gautama Buddha brings even more to the field than the first volume.

The second volume gives us much of the young Siddhartha, born a fairly sickly child, as he grows and begins to question larger than life topics such as, "What happens when you die?" and "If we as classes are separated, why do we all die equally?" He proves to be a rambunctious young man as he gets older and goes out into the world with the help of a grown Tatta and ends up meeting the sexy bandit girl Migaila.

Once again I recommend this series highly. It keeps getting better and much more interesting as I continue, so I hope you join me!

One of the best i've read

by -

Volume two is even better than volume one. It explores Siddhartha a lot more as he isn't a baby anymore. The stories from the first volume carry over though and have great impact on it. There are also even more characters introduced in this book that are all promising.
I was only partially familiar with Siddhartha's story from what I learned in school years ago, and this telling of it is just amazing. By far my favorite Tezuka work, and one of my top manga of all time.
It gets 4 stars though because of the fact the images are mirrored.
